Hoping Bailie Starts tonight, I'm really not trying to knock Zador but I think both should be given a chance.

In speaking too one of the generals staff tonight. Parnham is apparently three weeks away, and apparently calvin will be playing his 9 games in the nhl then nyi will evaluate his play and decide wheather to send him back to the ohl.

so with that being said i say trade him if he comes back.... p.s. don't hate.... i really like the kid..... but are we gonna win this year? no.... if there really considering keeping him this year will he be back next year when we're gonna have a good chance to win? nope

package calvin and parnham at the deadline.... they are almost as good a pair as delzotto and tavares .... just looking at stats....

I thought the game was very good and entertaining. The team played well enough to win and I am seeing improvements on a game to game basis.

I am really glad to see , we are just sitting back and waiting, on the PK, for the other team to set up. We have been really aggressive and challenged any entry into the zone. We haven't seen that for a long , long time.

I loved that goal Andreoff got in the 2nd. I liked the way Bailie played. It's too hard to kill a penalty in overtime.

Andreoff's goal was a thing of beauty, but had he failed to score, we'd be grumbling. He turned a 2 on 0 into a breakaway by not slowing up to use the trailer, and even then I thought he waited too long to shoot. But that doesn't change the fact that goal could have been TSN's HON! Sudbury's tying goal was as pretty as they get as well.

I agree totally on the OT. An OT power play is as good as winning the game. The 4 on 3 is such a bigger advantage than a 5 on 4. I've never liked the 4 on 4 OT, but if that's the way it is, I'd love to see power plays start 5 on 4. When the penalty expires, it'd be 5 on 5 until the next whistle, at which point it'd become 4 on 4 again. We already do this with two man advantages in OT (it becomes 5 on 3 and the format above is followed), this would seem to be a logical next step.

I also agree on the aggressive PK. There was once or twice they looked scrambly, but that's to be expected early in the season -- and most importantly, it's far better than a passive penalty kill.

Even the 4 on 3 in OT was a decent kill until the goal. The Gens did a good job of disrupting and getting the puck out when they had the opportunity -- it's just a 4 on 3 seems to be the worst PK these days. When teams get a 5 on 3, the power play has a tendancy to get too stationary and stay on the perimeter, for whatever reason. But a 4 on 3 usually means more foot movement and as a result, more success.

The other reason the 4-on-3 seems like such a huge advantage in OT is that it's two full minutes. Any 4-on-3 or 5-on-3 advantage in regulation is usually short. There's a huge psychological difference between having to kill off 45 seconds of 4-on-3 and two full minutes of OT with tired legs.I agree, the 4-on-3 in OT pretty much means game over. I wouldn't change it though - the whole reason they instituted 4-on-4 OT was to reduce ties so if that's the goal, a 4-on-3 man advantage is good.

On the other hand, if you disagree with the philosophy of needing ties to be broken and see nothing wrong with a tie game, you would be inclined to also see the 4-on-3 as a somewhat unfair conclusion and that's certainly a fair opinion.

I hear what you're saying about regulation vs OT in length. Yet even in regulation, it seems if a team has a 5 on 3 that's sluggish and take a penalty and it becomes a 4 on 3, the 4 on 3 often looks better (and has more success) if there's more movement.

You're right, I'm one of those who misses ties. I miss the adrenaline of win or lose in OT -- the ability to come out with two, one or zero points. Now, you're already guaranteed a tie (one point), an OT win or an OT loss doesn't feels good or bad as a regulation win or loss does. The four point swing on a goal in a playoff race, it's now become a two point swing. To me, we've lost a lot of the intensity and excitement of OT.

But even worse is having the officials play a larger part in the outcome. A bad call in OT (Barrie at Niagara a few nights ago as an example) is far harder to overcome. Whenever I feel the officials determine the outcome of a game, I remember it as a bad game. And to me, this format increases that likelihood.

It was a decent effort by the generals. To bad they couldnt take advantage of the early penaltys by sudbury. We had 4 pp in the first 10 mins. We score one or two goals and its a different game.Once again we have no pp.
