Who do you think is our biggest rivalry with??
I have been a GENS fan - season ticket holder since the Bobby Orr days
When the Petes came to town - it was war - a real hatred
That has really become tame now
We have had tough series with Ottawa - 1 year with Kingston - lesser extent Bulls
I can't say we have a real rivalry with anyone in the East - not like we use to.
A rivalry is when you just have to go to that game - can't wait for the puck to drop - that first BIG hit or power play
So who do you think should be that team and how do we promote that ??
In the west I would say there is probably at least 6 or more big ones

Obviously in my eyes it is still the Petes although Belleville has tried to take the position in the last several years. The last time the Gens/Petes rivalry reared it's head was in the 2003 playoffs. I believe we all remember that series. In case you need a reminder here is the box score from Game 7 http://www.ontariohockeyleague.com/stats/game-summary.php?game_id=5316
The Gens/Petes rivalry will always be #1 in my mind and it is always rekindled with a playoff series. Perhaps they will meet in a playoff series this year. How do we promote it? That's a tough question, normally the natual rivalry did it's own promoting and neither team really had to promote it. On the Gens side a good competitive hockey team will be enough promotion in my eyes. If the team on the ice is good, the fans will come. That's always been the case in Oshawa. If the boys keep playing the way they have been for the rest of the season it will be exciting around the GMC.

I hate the Bulls, mostly cause of there fans, so i'd say its the biggest off ice rivalry.... tensions are normally high if fans from both teams end up in the same place

IMO, when we were in the Civic the best rivalry was with the Petes, hands down. I think since we moved to the GMC its changed to the Bulls.

I agree, that the rivalries have really become tame in our division. Obviously , the Petes are atop of the list. Domi days were pretty rough and tough too...I remember that little bugger riding his stick around the ice surface....The auditorium could have lynched him.
The bulls only burn us becuase George couldn't get our team motivated when it counted the most and then he had a really good team and rubbed our noses in it......tough to swallow. And personally for me...I work with a lot of Belleville fans.....And got a lot of teasing over the years....
I would like to some of the flames fuelled though....It becomes even more special...

I still think it's the Petes. Even the pre-season games had spikes in attendance with Peterborough in town. The only reason this discussion has come up at all is that the Petes haven't been that strong recently. As soon as any game with playoff implications or even better, an actual playoff series, I don't think anyone would even suggest that Belleville is anywhere close. During the JT era, Oshawa and Belleville were battling for the division lead, that's why it seems like the rivalry with Belleville has seemed enhanced. It's artificial. Kind of like how the Sens briefly replaced Montreal as the Leafs' main rival because they happened to play each other in the playoffs four years in a row. Now that the playoffs are a pipe dream, I think the Habs are #1 again.

I have to admit I loved it when "Ralphie" played net for Ottawa.
But It's Peterborough hands down.

The only answer is Peterborough. No matter what teams are up or down in the standings, we always play hard fought games against the Petes.

Just need a good line brawl to stir the pot again with the Petes.

Three of our four home games against the Petes are on Friday nights this year. That's not our highest attendance night. Those Sunday night fights always bring a big crowd.
