Laughton 5min major

After Watching the replay. That really does look like the weakest cross check ever. I hope he doesn't get suspended for it.

Weak or not, it was still a hit from behind. My concern is that Laughton has been suspended this season and Hall looked to be hurt on the play. I really hope they don't suspend him. That would be a serious blow to the team, especially after these first two games of the series.

Not at the game and not watching but judging from the shots on goal, the Gennies faded and then quit. Again, no sign of any power play production.

they had no interest in competing in the 3rd. That was a dumb hit could have used the body, and i still don't understand how poorly Petgrave plays for an overeager can't make a decent pass and week in the defensive zone. We need a full effort Sunday and i'll be there cheering the team.

I think that was Scott's last game in a Generals Uniform I hope I'm wrong.

Petgrave is horrible. At least if he was getting pts it could be a trade off. I don't know how he got 50 pts this year, hes is a very weak mans PK or Jordan Subban. Why Will P. is not getting in the lineup is beyond me. I don't care if Oshawa won the first 2 or lost, Petgrave is absolutly horrible. What happened to his big hits the odd time, haven't seen that in a while. PLAY #6 WILL P.!! i rather him make mistakes then a horrible overager in Petgrave. I wouldn't complain if he made mistakes because in 2-3 years hes going to be a beast. Petgrave and Karlsson out please, Will P. in.

The trades they made have not made any impact in the Playoffs, Belleville has, which is why Belleville is the favorite in the east. So i guess Oshawa has to wait another 3-4 years to lose in the 2nd round can't wait.

PS. I really didn't think the Laughton hit was that bad, looked liked a normal crosscheck you see in the corner everygame. Maybe Hall embleshed it but caught the edge of the boards during his embelishment? Just an observation.

There were a number of issues with the x check

1 - It was about 2 ft from the boards

2 - It was with less than 3 minutes in the 3 rd period

3 - Think about it - it was not a hockey play - could have used his shoulder not his stick

4 - Just proved to the Flyers - not ready for prime time

5 - Turning point in the series

6 - Will he be suspended - Hope not But don't be surprised - You sure had to feel the pain that Hall was in

It was a really strange play. The cross check seemed very light. But hall was bloody and in a lot of pain. Mush have hit his face off the corner of the boards or on the ice when he went down. Also Laughton fell ontop off him as they went down.

Does anyone know if they have ruled on Scott yet?....could it be they are waiting for the OHL office to open tomorrow and he will play tonite?

I believe all 5 minute majors that cause an injury - the player does not return until the league reviews the incident

However you would think in the playoffs this process would be sped up a bit

This does lead one to believe it could be a longer suspension

Hall is NOT playing tonight , Laughton will be reviewed on Monday by the league

Heard yesterday from a reliable source that Laughton is out indefinitely.

Thats actually less then i thought he would get, i was thinkin maybe more then 10 because hes a repeat offender and well u know branch,he loves to over suspend our guys!!!

So I guess he's back the 1st game against the Bull's in the 3rd rd of playoffs

I personally think the OHL is a damn joke when it comes to suspensions. This is the playoffs and idiot Branch is handing out 5-10 game suspensions to players where the hit barely merits a 1 game suspension. The Colts lost Camara for 3 for something that would be maybe a fine in the NHL. An they lost their captain for what I'd say would be a 3 game suspension when comparing it suspensions in the NHL. Now I get this is the OHL an not the NHL but these suspensions are way over board. Just like the ridiculous fighting rule that didn't slow down fighting one bit. Branch is a goof who installs all these rules an throws down these lengthy suspensions to be politically correct with the people saying fighting an violence doesn't belong in the game. Look fighting will alway be in the game, 90% of every hockey crowd loves it. Hockey is a violent sport... Bottom line. Elbows get up sometimes, it's hard to slow down when going in for a check if a player turns last minute that should be on the player receiving the hit... Don't put yourself in bad positions. I don't believe stick swinging an that garbage belongs but give the kids some slack especially considering its the playoffs. The colts losing Camara an o Connor could of cost them. Losing Laughton could cost the gens. An this is not a regular season game this is a 2nd round playoff series.

Not that it matters because this team has for whatever reason decided to not play as a team in the playoffs (Lessio and Jenner) the two biggest offenders of this. It almost looks like last years team and Dipiero is the coach. I don't get it other than maybe DJ and his constant yelling has worn on the older players. I was at the game in Barrie and Laughtons hit was at most a 2 min crosscheck. Too bad Hall was hurt but I dought he is out longer than Laughton's suspension. I really am in awe that this team is not competing with Barrie as I really do not think Barrie is any better (we make them look good) Oh well nobody loves rebuilding more than us...Here we go again. Maybe with Jenner gone next year Dal Colle will actually shoot instead of always looking for Jenner as Jenner bangs his stick while 3 guys are on him and we lose control.

That hit was not a smart play, but it inferiates me when I watch players at that level skate along the boards and then try to reverse at the last second and turn their back to the player coming in. If Hall had kept skating, it's a normal hit, but when he saw Laughton, he turned to reverse and was caught on the numbers and prone to the boards. Laughton should have let up and not used his stick perhaps, but it was not a directed hit from behind and never would have happened if Hall didn't turn into the boards head first. Based on the injury, the play on the ice should have been enough, suplemental suspension is not the right call. And that was hardly the turning point of the series......try blowing a 3-1 lead with 5 or 6 minutes left in game one.

My opinion on the Laughton check is he was screwed from the beginning. It was the crosscheck that made the hit severe. Hall wasn't caught on the numbers if you watch the video closely..contact was on the head and planting it on the edge of the boards. Totally agree though, that Hall turned into the hit and if Laughton went in with stick down and using the body I believe there would of been a different ruling, if any at all. Secondly, this is Laughtons second offence now and wheres the discipline? This is what inferiates me......Lastly, we all know Branch is going to be tough because he has to be with all the high awareness on head injuries...playoff hockey or not we all know this ffs......In summary......Discipline!!!
