Well it is # 1 seed vs # 2 seed in the Conference - playing North Bay well it's hard to watch at times

North Bay finished the season much better than we did even though we went 8 - 0 and they went 8 - 5 in the playoffs

We play our first game without Scott Laughton - yes we have won 2 games without Scott BUT that was vs a tired - depleted Petes team

It is Great to win vs the Petes BUT would have been much better had it lasted 1 more game so as Scott would not miss this series opener

As I don't think this is a 4 gamer BUT possibly the 7 will be needed

North Bay has goaltending equal or better than the Gens - have over 90 % power play and don't quit - defence is very good

We will have to ramp up another notch or 2 to win this series - This is not Missy or the Petes

Having gone 8 wins in a row in the playoffs is GREAT but the real challenge starts on Friday night

I agree the North Bay Battalion will be a much tougher opponent then both the Steelheads & the Petes, not to mention the style of the play the Battalion play. It's likely going to be a 6-7 game series.

I'd argue the goaltending comment though, I believe Jake Smith is a product of the Battalion's style of play and has gotten hot, as Andrew D'Agostini did. Daniel Altshuller has had rough patches here an their but he's a mid round NHL draft pick for a reason, and if you look back on past playoffs an regular season play he is a far better goaltender. You put Altshuller behind the Battalion style of play an I'd be surprised if his GAA was over 2.00.

I think a big reason for North Bay's success this playoffs is their size up front. Barrie and Niagara just couldn't handle it and didn't match up well. I think with the size and strength of the Generals D-Core they'll be able to handle and neutralize it. The Battalion will likely need 3 goals a game to beat the Generals and I don't think they can do that 4 out of 7 times.

I agree with you that this series maybe hard to watch both teams are playing great defence, I think we are a little deeper than North Bay in all the positions. Also I read a stat some where today, I wish I could find it, saying that in the playoffs the Gens has the best power play and North Bay has the worst, I do think our goaltender is better, but really not tested the first 2 rds. I guess we will soon find out
