Congrads to all the General named, very nice to see Ken Appleby added to the roster, easily the best goalie in the OHL to start the season, well deserving of the honour. Love that Mitchell Vande Sompel has been added to the roster for both games, another player well deserving of the honour. My question is, how is Cole Cassels eligible to play in this game. He's American according to every player profile if seen. I'm assuming he's a dual citizen, but I still thought he was ineligible. Im guessing since he hasn't suited up for Team USA at any international event and holds dual citizenship he's allowed to play for either Team Canada or Team USA, similar to Tyler Myers and Brenan Kozun.

I don't think the Subway Super Series is an IIHF-sanctioned international event so the rules of nationality wouldn't need to apply. Also, it's Team OHL and not Team Canada so I'm assuming that's why American players would be welcome to participate.

Its not an IIHF sanctioned event, but Team Canada has used the event as a way to determine who will be invited to their December selection camps. Thus why no overage players are ever selected, despite being well deserving of a spot. An if all American are eligible then I ask why, Sonny Milano, Alex Nedeljkovic, Alex DeBrincat, Christan Dvorak, Justin Bailey and Kevin Labanc where not invited to play. DeBrincat is 4th in OHL scoring and the rest of the names minus Milano are top 20 in scoring.

The only Americans by birth to ever play all ended up suiting up for Canada at the WJC, most recently Kerby Rychel. So I'm assuming Cassels has decided to represent Canada in international events ?

Yes he is a dual citizen and I am glad he chose Canada - he played a very good game and matched the Russians well - it is too bad that some of our players seemed to be in awe of the Russians and this team from Russia was a veteran team , very fast and skilled - Domi was too small
