We haven't yet, could of on Sunday if we won against Kingston we were guarantee a spot (it's a sure thing) But does any one know if this would be the earliest we clinched, also did someone did the math on what it would take to clinch the East?

16 points in 19 games would clinch the division.
22 points in 19 games would clinch the conference.

The only thing the Generals have to play for statistically at this point is to keep ahead of Sault and win the league.

Say the 4 teams closest to us win 75% of there remaining games the final standings would look like
(I don't see any of the teams winning that many games)

North Bay 91
Barrie 90
Ottawa 85

If the Gens Win 50% of there remaining games then there would end up with 99 points.

In answere to your question have we ever clinched a spot this early, I have no idea, however I would put money down on the answer being no, because we are currently on trach to eclipse the franchise record in Oshawa for most points in a season.

Magic Numbers

Number of points the Generals need to gain/opponent needs to lose to clinch a spot.

North Bay 23
Barrie 21
Ottawa 16
Kingston 9
Niagara 7
Belleville 5
Peterborough 4
Mississauga 2
Sudbury (Gens have already Clinched 9th)

I didn't take the time to factor in ties in the standings so the number above does not reflect the possibility of winning a tie due to a season series.

They also COULD clinch the division on Monday afternoon if Ottawa loses 2 of their games this weekend and Oshawa wins tonight and Monday. Although if that happened they would only need 1 point on Monday to force a tie points wise I believe they would get the tie breaker :-)
