Sportsnet, mcdavid, future seconds oh my

Post by oshgens2k2 on Thu May 21, 2015 8:10 am

Still pumped about winning the OHL title last week. Really have a good feeling about this team and heading down to Quebec for the semis and finals. So put on sportsnet this morning ready to watch sam cosentino with his preview and the first half he talks about mcdavid and the fact he isn't there effect on tournament. Please they were eliminated in five games people and I still stand by my view that north bay and their goaltending and defensive game would have beat them too.

Now about those future seconds the generals don't have...... all I hear is crickets from those posters worried about the long term effect of the team. We went for it and it paid off. The part I'm more worried about long term is the eventual departure of our coach D J Smith. He is going to get scooped up by an ahl or nhl team sooner than later and I don't blame him for advancing his career but we need to keep the way things are done here now so we can become like the London knights teams where they are constantly competing. Dj is the best coach we have had since Paul theriault in my opinion.

Go get them Gennies!

The crickets will be chirping soon after the Mem Cup is over regardless of the result. Trust me!

I think the trades have paid off. We have parts that will be moved next January for picks and players. By the sounds of studnicka and McLean next year coming we won't be too bad for the future.

You know what let them chirp, they been doing it all year putting this team down.
I personally think this team is the best I've ever seen and I'm a 30 plus season ticket holder. Also I think we will be okay next year defiantly not as good as this year Laughing will be middle of the pack. In DJ we trust(hopefully he is back)

Heard Windsor was going to draft him in second rd but he said he was going NCAA but has said he would play in Oshawa. This is word of mouth though from someone who knows scouts.

If anyone puts stock into what I've heard.. I to have heard MacLean is coming to Oshawa. Sullivan Sparkes will also have a good shot at making the Generals next season, he was an excellent pick for the club.

As for DJ Smith, his name is already floating around the AHL and NHL, I believe he's gone at the conclusion of the season, especially if he caps the year off with a Memorial Cup. He has a desire to win, he's accomplished everything he can in junior, the Generals will be weak in comparison next season, it is the right time for him to move on, if moving on is his intent. DJ won't just go anywhere an he is slated to be an assistant coach for Team Canada at the World Juniors next season which may be two things keeping him in Oshawa next season.
