I know I don't want Brad Sellwood 😂and I sure it will be someone from Windsor and I hope it's not Wellwood because I don't think he is ready to be coach. I will say Ted Nolan as he is always mentioned when an OHL team needs a coach 😁 the gen's need a coach that can teach young player's as that is the Gens are going to be yong

If Paul McFarland had waited one year it would be him. He should pull a John Farrell and say I live the Oshawa generals and sorry Kingston that's where my heart is and best chance to win. The Gens need a solid coach that is in the same mould as DJ. Not sure who is out there. A deboer connection is Steve sport unless he goes with deboer.

Here's a few names I think could fit for one reason or another,

Trevor Letowski - Coached the Sting the past couple seasons, good young up and coming coach, shouldn't have been fired, really had a good young Sting team developing. I think he should at least be interviewed for the job.

Trent Cull - Had three straight winning seasons in Sudbury before heading to the AHL's Syracuse Crunch to become an assistant for the past two seasons. Rumored to be in on the Soo Greyhounds head coaching job. Previous experience includes 04 to 06 assistant with the Storm. total six season as an assistant with the Syracuse Crunch.

Steve Spott - Some may not like him, but its hard to argue with his resume as a head coach, plus all the experience in the OHL as an assistant. Has a ton of options however, assistant coach with the Sharks, head coach with the WHL's Vancouver Giants, and still a very small chance he could return to Kitchener.

Bob Jones - Current Windsor Spitfires assistant coach, was with them through their Memorial Cups, while DJ was also an assistant. Took over head coaching duties briefly while Boughner was in the NHL. 17 years as an OHL assistant with Sault Ste Marie, Toronto St Michael's, Sudbury and Windsor the past 8 seasons.

Lindsey Hofford - Recently took a job with the Leafs in scouting, very very doubtful, but he's coached minor midget AAA the last few seasons, took Don Mills to the OHL Cup final last year. Very intelligent hockey mind, Previous major junior coaching experience in London and Lethbridge as a head coach. London as an assistant and head coaching experience with Bramalea of the OJHL back in the late 90s

Ted Nolan - I don't think he needs an explanation. Two time OHL Champion as coach with Soo Greyhounds, won the QMJHL with Moncton in 05-06. Only one losing season in Junior Hockey. Rumored to have thrown his name in the hat in Kitchener, but was surprisingly pushed aside in favor of Mike Van Ryan. Also a candidate for the Vancouver Giants and Soo Greyhounds Job.

Mike Tarantino - Just 34 years old, a really good young up and coming coach. Co-Coach with Jason Fortier with the Toronto Patriots in 2012-2013 leading them to a Dudley Hewitt Cup win and RBC Cup championship berth. Current head coach with the Oakville Blades, went 32-19-2 last season. Former player, that played with Oakville and R.I.T in the NCAA

Joe Cirella - Seven years as a Generals assistant coach, last three seasons spent as a Greyhounds assistant, deserving of a Head Coaching job. Names been mentioned in regards to the Soo Head coaching job.

Jarrod Skalde - Former Generals player, was recently fired as head coach of the Norfolk Admirals (AHL). Three years as Head Coach of the ECHL's Cincinnati Cyclones, one year as Norfolks assistant, and one year as the head coach in Norfolk. Two years coaching experience in the IHL.

Jason Clarke - No prior Major junior experience but has taken Carleton Place of the CCHL to back to back RBC Cup finals, back to back Fred Page Cup championships and had his club finish in top spot during the regular season two years running.

Jeff Daniels - Former Generals player, has spent his coaching career with the Carolina Hurricanes organization. Four years an assistant in the NHL, spent the last seven years as an AHL head coach. May be a back track move, but still should be considered a candidate.

Greg Walters - Eight Seasons as a Sarnia Sting assistant coach, spent the last three seasons coaching the Georgetown Raiders of the OJHL, 37-9-3-5 record last season, worst record in three seasons was 31-20-0-2.

Dallas Eakins - He's not getting any sniffs in the NHL with so many high profile coaches available and teams promoting from with in or hiring from the junior ranks. He made need to take a major junior job an work his way back up. A few bad seasons in Edmonton shouldn't over shadow his previous success.

Mike Peca - Coached the Buffalo Jr. Sabres of the OJHL for two seasons, with some fairly good success. Not likely a candidate but an intriguing name to possibly keep in mind.

Paul Coffey - Coffey coached the Toronto Marlboros Minor Midget AAA team to an OHL Cup championship in 2013-2014, took over as head coach of the Pickering Panthers last season. Was rumored to have interest in coaching at the OHL level, likely a long shot as well, but has had success in a very brief coaching career.

Jerome Dupont - Coached for two seasons in Gatineau of the QMJHL, has gone 105-37-2-8 the past three seasons as head coach of the Trenton Golden Hawks of the OJHL.

Disappointing as Oshawa established, albeit for a short time, a great philosophy and system under DJ that could withstand injuries. Hopefully they being in someone with similar values and pedigree. The reason why Ottawa was so good for so long despite turnover was Brian Kilrea had a great system and they drafted players specifically for that system. When you draft individual players to fit a structure you have in place rather than individuals playing for themselves the team concept always does better. The soux may produce better pros than this Gens team but we have good players that played within a great system and as evidenced in previous years where we actually had more skill to start the season 3-5 years ago we faltered because we did not have the structure DJ brought. So my point is I hope we just don't bring a guy here to coach a few years. I hope we bring someone with a good philosophy and structure. Im not super familiar with our coaching staff, any way to keep dj's assistants/ promote them to keep the eatablished system we have.

I think Eric Wellwood might be too inexperienced yet to be the head coach but he should definitely stay as assistant coach . He has good relationship and his age is good for being able to relate to team.

Letkowski from Sarnia sounds good

I don't know much about any of these coaches but I like Eakins from his work with the Mariies and Letkowski for the work he did in Sarnia. I don't know their philosophies or what kind of culture they like to establish but they seem to be the best of the bunch listed by Macker88 with Trent Cull a possibility. We shall see.

Well in the paper Roger Hunt stated that Wellwood would be back as an assistant as he is in experience a good move by the gen's, have him learn, also said there are alot of applications coming in and they were coming in as early as May as people knew DJ world be gone😂

Twitter report on HF Boards says Bob Jones, an assistant coach at Windsor, has interviewed for the the Gens job. What is this,  a version of hockey "nepotism"? Aka, the Windsor connection!

Doesn't sound like a 'thorough search" to me. Maybe some of the names on Mackers list are not interested or unavailable.

All that matters is that they want to be here and coach the GENS - as no

matter who the next coach is he will not have as good a team as D J

started with - Kitchener just signed 3 or 4 coaches - with teams at all

levels of hockey- at this time of year if you do not sign your guy today

he could be gone tomorrow - with signing prospects and the Euro draft

we need a coach signed soon - to convince the next group to sign
