Hmm this is rather vague, and a hefty fine. Does anyone know where someone could get a document like the league's bylaws? I'm curious to read up on this.

Re: OHL - Gens Fined 10K
I heard Rob Snoek mention on the radio this morning, that the team assembled its senior players a week too soon.

Re: OHL - Gens Fined 10K
Seems the league feels it's a no no to use your vetrans for a hockey camp a week before training camps are to start. Maybe they should check to see what the other teams in the league did the same thing.

Re: OHL - Gens Fined 10K
its a real shame when as a coach you want to get your players together early to get things rolling

Re: OHL - Gens Fined 10K
apparently the gens said they made ice available and let them scrimmage.... it wasn't mandartory and thus shouldn't be illegal

Then they should appeal.
And 10 grand is a ridiculously high fine.

Branch is way out of line
If players voluntarily came out to use the ice - that should be OK
If players were told they must report early that is wrong
In todays sport world - players must be ready to play and not worry about hamstring or groin injury
Players are skating in their hometown arenas long before camp opens
Why is it an issue if he skates in his teams arena
Players are told when they leave after the season is over - Be fit and ready to play when camp opens
Veterans who are drafted and going to NHL camps want to be ready and not look out of place
If the GENS knew of an OHL rule that no matter what - players cannot use the teams ice - who knows maybe it's for legal reasons
that if a player gets hurt and there is a lawsuit then who pays - There will be more to this issue
Unless there is a legal or medical reason this shouldn't be an issue.

While I agree that is unfortunate the rules are the rules no matter how arbitrary or unfair they may seem. Whoever was responsible for this "unlawful assembly" should have made themselves more familiar with the rules.
