World Juniors 2011

I wonder how many of our4 GENS get an invite to the World Juniors camp - Scott Valentine would like good on that team too

Myself I think Calvin and Jenner could get invites, Lessio would have to turn up his game about 3 notches and Thomas would be a long shot

Calvin will be invited and on the team unless something really strange happens.

Jenner should be invited. Thomas could be invited. I don't think Lessio will be this year.

Valentine is not close. Is he one of the 12 best defensemen in the country? I don't think so.

I agree with lefty , no way Jenner gets invited , he's not playing that well guys , lessio isn't ready either , actually we won't be burdened by losing players to the world juniors , it will be good for our record , may lose dehaan , but hey he's not exactly burning up the league right now , he's no lock either

Team Canada - Hockey Canada is very poilitical

Jenner was on the under 17 team last yr and was Captain

Calvin was Captain of the team OHL last week in London

I think they both get the invite to training camp as it is stiii 4 - 5 weeks

before camp selection

Jenner played what I thought was his best game yesterday, in quite awhile , so perhapsnif he turns it up a notch , but he would have to put up some numbers to get invited , with the defensive style dipiero has employed lately , those required numbers are not likely , he's not really a goal scorer as it's turning out

for not scoring - Jenner could play a key 3rd 4th line checking center with Team Canada

I don't think anyone is knocking anyone. Simply put, Jenner and Lessio are not among the top 30 or 40 forwards Canada wide, let alone in the top 12-13. To give them a spot would be an absolute disgrace, as there are many deserving young men who will be competing for Canada, and it's obviously not an easy team to crack.

Calvin DeHaan is a LOCK, guaranteed, barring injury. He was already on the team last year, and will be counted on for Team Canada to carry a large load. The only other Gen who MAY get consideration is Christian Thomas. While the Generals have many good young players, it takes a special player to compete at the World Juniors, and there are only so many spots.

It's a 19 year olds tournament. They rarely invite undrafted players to camp. Jenner won't get invited.

You are right it is a 19 yr old tournament BUT they do invite 17 & 18 yrs to training camp - then they get cut - re Tavares and Hall

I also think the OHL is not as strong as years past

Yes. And the 16 & 17 y/o kids they invite to camp are scorers and phenoms, for ex. Spezza, Tavares, Hall, etc. They don't bring in young kids to compete to be 3rd & 4th liners. They want the 19 y/o character guys for those positions. Jenner is currently 114th in the OHL for scoring. I don't think he's going to get a look.

Can anyone confirm that the game at the GMC is sold out?

The last that I heard was that there was some scattered singles - still available now on line but singles

Also of note - Hockey Canada more than likely will release some seats closer to game time

I heard last Sunday night that there were standing room tickets only left.

No knock on jenner he plays hard , great on the for check but sorry hasn't shown to me at least that he is a top level goal scorer , has trouble finding the net when he does get a shot , I guess i' m saying he's not a natural goal scorer like puempel is ! I guess gens figured they wanted a strong man down the middle , so they opted for Jenner over PUempel .

There was an e-mail sent out today advertising private boxes for the Canadian Junior game versus Switzerland. $1000.00 each pluse $50.00 for additional tickets.
