The First Step

Post by gensman on Wed Nov 09, 2011 4:40 pm

This move now opens up discussion about a bona fide championship run & MEM Cup bid and appearance. A couple more tweaks and the 'Good Ship Gennie' should be good to go! I'm betting sooner than later!

A much improved defence, probably adding two veterans, one a playmaker and steady goaltending will be a prerequisite. Championship teams are built from the net out! Those are the two 'achilles heels' on this club, right now.

I agree we need to add a really good defenceman but I'm comfortable with our goal tending situation, Bailie is much improved this year and Altschuller has shown he belongs here.

It is more of a defensive zone plan we need more than anything -

Goaltending has not cost us games like in the past

If Valentine doesn't come back - we would then only have 2 overagers

That is the time to add if their is 1 available

I'd be interested to hear who would be people's choice to sit if we do acquire another D.

Would it be a veteran D that either sits or is traded (Quinn or Maggio) or would everyone prefer to sit a 16 year old and risk not developing them (Brown and Carlisle)

The ideal 1 to sit would be the youngest on the team - Brown

You will not trade Maggio or Quinn then you would add 2 - can't see it

With the right coaching - look for our dee to improve - also everyone is looking for a top puck moving defenseman and not many available

Don't see Valentine returning. He has played 10 games and is one of 7 defencemen currently listed on the Admirals site.

I think the only way you improve the defense is by giving maggio and quinn less time and playing the others more. They are both a liability on defense especially on penalty kill. Carlisle and Brown need to be developed but they are to green to play first or second line d
