Did not play yesterday, was not a healthy scratch, was apparently banged up according to the coach.

Anyone hear anything? Hope it doesn't derail his chances with team Canada.

Dal Colle, had a nagging injury, they won't release what it is or they wouldn't at the time. He's very much a bubble player at this point, he's made it through the first round of cuts based on his performances at prior Hockey Canada events and his excellent season thus far with Oshawa.

Dal Colle skated on a line with Jason Dickinson and Rourke Chartier today. IMO these 3 players are fighting for the last roster spot based on performances up to now.

Dal Colle's skating has been exposed some in the camp and game against the CIS, while it may be from this unknown injury he's suffering from, he's looked slow in camp an his hands.. well for lack of better words, he seems to be fumbling the puck a lot, having trouble corralling passes and things of that sort.

No denying Dal Colle is a world class player, he just hasn't been showing that well in camp, had he not been who he is I believe he may have been cut yesterday

Does the addition of Curtis Lazar to the team mean that Dal Colle is even more likely to be returned to Oshawa?

Thoughts?

Dal Colle was certainly a bubble player even before Lazar was loaned to the World Junior squad, so I believe his chances in making the team are even less likely at this point, especially considering the type of player is. I was only in Niagara for one practice but got to all the practices and games in Toronto. Dal Colle was not himself, was not doing much offensively and looked as though the speed at times was to much for him.

With three forwards needing to be cut now, I believe the final cuts come down to these players, Dal Colle, Chartier, Dickinson, Paul and Crouse.
Here's the roster break down and lines that where sent to me,
Domi-Reinhart-Duclair
Lazar-McDavid-Fabbri
Ritchie-Petan-Virtanen
Crouse-Gauthier-Point
Dickinson-Paul-Dal Colle
Chartier.

Believe Chartier is the most noticeable player that will be cut. Having a strong WHL season with Kelowna, however he's slightly undersized and hasn't been impactful in camp or the exhibition's against the CIS. He by know mean's has been bad, however in a camp this close you need to make an impact as a bubble player.

The final spot comes down to Dickinson, Paul and Dal Colle. Dal Colle has the international experience, and has been fantastic in the OHL this year and last. However Dickinson and Paul have had equally as good camps and in my opinion, better camps. Plus the two players are far more versatile. Dickinson also has the connection to Canadian assistant coach Scott Walker, and as much as you may want to discredit that, familiarity with players plays a big part. I think Dickinson ultimately is kept over Dal Colle and Paul. He's a top penalty killer in the OHL, yet also is a team leader in points. He's a great leader and can play in numerous roles.

Macker- thanks as always for the insightful analysis.

While having Dal Colle back would be good for the Generals it would be unfortunate for him. World Juniors are a chance for players to gain nationwide recognition while at the same time representing their country. It is very important to them to be on the team.

That said there have been a great number of very good players who never even got an invite to camp.

He didn't play well at all, but he could have easily played the "Brett Connolly" role as the 13th fwd. Its almost a guarantee Ritchie is going to take a questionable hit and get himself suspended. If guys like Booner Jenner and Anthony Camara get suspended for their hits, Nick Ritchie doesn't stand a chance with his style of play.

Ok Jaycro , you're being a bit morbid , DalColle had a good experience , he got invited to camp which is an honour , he simply looked out of place , wasn't what the coaches wanted ,that is great learning experience on its own , you don't always get what you want

He didn't get injured , he's back playing with his buddies trying to win a memorial cup championship ,on a real team , not something thrown together in a week .

To me having your name on the memorial cup is more meaningful

I'm happy he's back healthy and ready to go !

Okay then I'm greed, all I care about is the Generals a could care less about the WJ's, I'm a Gen's fan and with having Dal colle back it helps the Gen's. I'm sure he and his family are disappointed but there maybe more disappointments later on in his career and as a professional they can deal with it, and move on and play like team Canada made a mistake in not choosing him, But I for one Glad he's back.Smile

Dal Colle has/had a small nagging injury. They haven't released what it is, but he should be alright when the Gens return to action. Looked a lot stronger last night for Team Canada then he did in the first few practices and game against the CIS

I cant believe Ritchie is on this team and not MDC, Ritchie has shown me nothing this year especially vs Oshawa which are big games regardless of the standings. If fact he has cost his team by taking dumb penalties.

Michael Dal Colle had a poor camp, and Team Canada did not play favorites or show loyalty to any former players, they simply went with the guys who had the best camps. An Ritchie had a more effective camp. Ritchie wasn't a standout by any means, but he brought more to the table. Dal Colle is ineffective as a checker, where as Ritchie is. Ritchie is more effective along the boards and with his physical play, him being more versatile and having a set role with the team led to the decision. Dal Colle was given PP time and was expected to be a top 6 guy, but didn't show much if anything. He did look better last night against Russia but IMO he wasn't on this roster since day 2 of camp.

I'm a generals fan through and through, have been for years, but with an open mind and an unbiased opinion Ritchie was better then him

I agree Macker88 , Dal Colle is still young , he has areas of his game he has to work on , he will get another chance next year , not ready for the bigs .

happy to have him back Smile
