We'll see what Brampton comes up with in the 3rd...you'd think they would go all out in the final 20 minutes, knowing what's at stake.

Re: Well it is looking like Kingston
I can see people's thinking on Kingston for sure. I think either opponent would have had its pros and cons. In leaning towards Brampton, I was liking the least battered and bruised way to round 2. I liked the idea of what I'm assuming would have been a less physical series, probably leaving the Gens in better shape for a round 2 opponent. Assuming the Gens would have won a 1st round Brampton series, I think surviving the kind of series they would have had against the Battalion (defensive, tight checking) would have been better preparation for the kind of hockey the Gens will need to play to be successful in future rounds, but anyway, that's all a non-issue now.
What I like about the Kingston match-up is that the Gens have obviously been able to emphasize their goal scoring strength much more against Kingston, so hopefully that continues in round 1...facing a Fronts team whose goals against total ranks them 17th out of 20 teams in the league instead of the Battalion, ranked 5th. That's big. That's the #1 reason in my opinion, for liking the Kingston match-up right there.
Gens record this season against Kingston is great, 5 wins in 8 games and only 1 regulation loss in 8 games. I think people would be surprised though to look back and find that only 3 of those 8 games were decided in regulation...so it has been a close season series even though at least 19 points will separate us in the standings.
Here's the breakdown of how the 8 regular season games went from the Gens perspective:
In Oshawa: Gens regulation win, OT win, OT win, SO loss
In Kingston: Gens regulation win, OT win, regulation loss, SO loss
The thought of another series with the likes of Moon, Doherty, Werek and Gudbranson again...have they not been in the league for about 8 years now?
