seeding doesn't matter
It doesn't matter where you rank, to win a series, you need to win your home games and try to earn a split on the road. The Gens have done this and despite the disappointment of not getting the sweep, are in good shape with a 3-1 series lead going home where they haven't lost yet.
The Sudbury Wolves are in the same position despite their #7 seed. They have won all their home games and regardless of what happens in game 4, they have already earned at least a split on the road by winning the first game in Ottawa. Even if they can't win game 4, they're in command in the series.
The only benefit of home-ice advantage is seen in hosting game 7. In any series that doesn't go seven games, it really doesn't matter.
In some years, finishing higher than #4 can be important to avoid a dominant #1 seed but Mississauga does not appear to be head and shoulders above Ottawa or Niagara this year. If the Gens beat Kingston as they should, they will not have an easy time with Niagara. Earning that split on the road will be extremely difficult, the Ice Dogs play very well at home.

Mathematically speaking it doesn't matter until game 7, but from an emotional and physical standpoint of travelling into the opposing teams arena knowing you are the lower seeded team, it does have an impact.

We can play niagara and missy in there barns. Yes we lost in niagara but i felt we took the pedal off with a three goal lead eventually disappearing.

Re: seeding doesn't matter
Seeding only matters if you win your series
Let's not get ahead of ourselves and be concerned about who you play
next series - if you are not focused on your next game - their is no next
series - We did not play well in our last home game but got the win
Last night we did not play well and gave Kingston hope

A fan focusing on possible future matchups does not in anyway affect the team. They are either focused on the task at hand or they are not. With possible suspensions and injuries affecting the lineup we ice on friday the team better be focused or we will be back at the GMC tuesday.
