Signing/Training Camp Starts Aug 31st.
Oshawa Generals Head Coach & General Manager Chris DePiero announced today that the team has signed defenceman Chris Carlisle to an Ontario Hockey League contract.
Carlisle, 16, was the Generals 15th round selection, 284th overall in the 2010 OHL Priority Selection. The 5-foot-9 defenceman spent last season with the North Jersey Avalanche where he registered 4 goals and 8 assists for 12 points in 21 games.
“Chris was a late round pick of ours in 2010 and was unable to compete at our training camp due to injury in his first year with us,” said Generals Head Coach and General Manager Chris DePiero. “He went home and had a strong season and came back this year and competed and earned a place here.”
Carlisle, born in December of 1994 is a late birthday and will not be eligible for the NHL Entry Draft until 2013.
“We are excited that Chris chose Oshawa. He had some different avenues he could have pursued but we are thrilled that he feels the OHL is the best place for him to be.”
Carlisle will join the rest of his new teammates when Generals Training Camp opens on August 31st.

Good news.. I think I saw him at the orientation camp and he stood out. Might be a good one. I wonder if they will sign Rory McGuire or William Petschenig , the two third round defencemen? I guess that will depend on whether Maggio and Valentine return.

We've signed 3 16 year olds right? I doubt we sign any more until camp, other wise it pretty much ties our hands. Unless the two your mentioning were from a previous draft. (Brain Fog at 3 am)

This kid is from an older draft, so we've only signed two I believe.

Clarification, Karen? They have signed four but Carlisle was from the 2010 draft and doesn't qualify as one of the 4 sixteen year old limit rule players from this year's draft, as far as I know. I think the limit on that only applies to players selected in the last draft which is where I think this thread was going.

Well he is until December, due to a very late birthdate, but he was not born in 1995 as the 16 year olds are required to be.

Sorry all I was saying is the gens have signed 4 players ,didn't mean he was one of the 16 year olds to be signed . Just that the team had signed him . Also not to be picky, but my name is Karon !!!

We knew what you meant KARON. Apologies for the name misspelling. Just bored without hockey so I was nitpicking. I can't remember if goalies count in that number...they didn't used to and now they do, or is it the other way around? Out of touch on that!

I really like Carlisle when I saw him at camp. He's small, but gritty and doesnt seem to mind going to the cornors. I hope he turns out to be a long term dman.
