Gens Clean house
Heard on the news this morning Dips and ALL the coaching staff(except Roger Hunt & the scouting staff) has been let go.Now who do we get to replace them, and it make it easier that the GM is gone as now I think Ted Nolan and Bill Stewert is in play as both would want control of the team(this is my opinion on the GM & coach). This is going to be an intersting summer

Re: Gens Clean house
Don't know anything about Roger Hunt or his responsibilies within the team, .... defence, offense, pk or pp expert? Maybe his primary role is Director of Player Development and that's why he has been retained? Funny call, if you ask me. I think the announcement and pics have been changed as the original may have been misleading with Agnew on a short term contract basis was just leaving as per an original plan and the other two just not re-hired. Lumping them all together reflected negatively on Agnew as the announcement tarnished them all with the same brush.

Re: Gens Clean house
they need someone around to since they have scheduled the rookie camp already, Roger is probably a good one to keep on for that. Plus if the new coach/gm doesn't like him he can be let go after next season
It's not the worst thing to have one guy stay back as part of the transition

Re: Gens Clean house
I think you'll find that Chris and Joe's contract expires in June so they should be around for mini camp as well . Aslo any functions untill then I would think but, I could be wrong.

Re: Gens Clean house
This is what in the email I recieved and I'm sure season ticket holders got the same:
The Oshawa Generals announced today that General Manager Chris DePiero, Head Coach Gary Agnew, and Assistant Head Coach and Assistant General Manager Joe Cirella will be moving on from the organization.
the key words moving on from the organization,I think they won't have anything to do with the mini camp(Roger Hunt & scouts will run it)but your function maybe different as it may come down to friendship you had with them.
I wish Chris & Joe all the best in the future.

Re: Gens Clean house
Food for thought! Since we already have some of the Kitchener Rangers former scouting staff here, let's bring in Paul Fixter, current associate coach and assistant GM in Kitchener as GM and Head Coach and Troy Smith, currently assistant coach in Kitchener as an assistant here. They both have extensive backgrounds at university, pro and international levels and are part of a successful Kitchener organization. Thoughts?

Finally the end of the Smellwood era! What a waste of time! Great news for the Gens and for Dipper's Jr B. St. Mike's Buzzers! Time to step it up with Pro coaching and management.

Re: Gens Clean house
So the official story is that the Gens have parted ways with Agnew, however not permanately. His contract is up, however he is on the short list to be the coach for the Oshawa Generals.
That being said the GM that is hired will make the decision.
Interesting that there have been people all over the world showing interest for the job.
