OurHometown Gennies
Good evening everyone.
Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Dean Eastman and yes, I am a Gens' season ticket holder and have been since 2004 when I moved to the Durham Region for work purposes. In 2011, I began writing sports columns for an Eastern Ontario online newspaper called "OurHometown". Since August 2011 and now to this date, I have written a Montreal Canadiens' sports column merely out of my love for the game of hockey.
With the pending threat of an NHL lockout and with the upcoming NHL season becoming a huge question mark for all involved, I spoke to my editor, friend and founder of OurHometown, Chris Savard, about the possibility of writing similar hockey interest pieces on the Oshawa Generals.
Chris was very agreeable and supportive of the idea. I would like to personally thank Megan Gould, Manager, Media and Design, for giving me the opportunity to get 'up close and personal', so to speak, with the Generals this upcoming season. Since the age of five, I have always been involved with the game of hockey whether it be as a player, coach or off-ice official. Now, being given the opportunity to write about the game that I love, is the logical next step, so to speak.
I would ask each and everyone of you to look for my upcoming articles on the Generals at OurHometown. My first article will be posted during the week of September 17, when your Oshawa Generals open the 2012-13 season on the road in Peterborough on Thursday, September 20. I can only hope that this season will be much improved over last season. There was some strong competition among the new and veteran players in training camp a couple of weeks prior; I can only hope the same determination and attitude will be displayed by every player in each contest this season.
Should you have any questions or suggestions, feel free to send me an email at your earliest convenience.
I look forward to serving you this 2012-13 OHL season!
Kind regards,
Dean Eastman
