Looking to Next Year
Best and Worst Case Line Up Scenarios
Best Case (Everyone back I kept Jenner, Sullentrop and Lessio as OA's and dropped the other 93's)
Lessio Jenner Dal Colle
Dundas Laughton Latour
Lloyd Cassels Smith
Walace forward forward
Sullentrop Brown
defence Carlisle
Petchenig Vande Sompel
Altshuller
Appleby
Worst Case (Dropped all 93's and Laughton)
Latour Cassels Dundas
Lloyd Dal Colle Wallace
Smith Forward Forward
Forward Forward Forward
Brown Carlisle
Petschenig Vande Sompel
Defence Defence
Altshuller
Appleby
6-10 Open Roster spots for next year (assuming a squad of 23)
I was just curious heading into rookie camp what positions are available, lots of spots on this team.

Re: Looking to Next Year
Best case not realistic and worst case, WORST CASE. Latour and dundas on first line = no playoffs.
Surprised you left off biggs, out of everybody, he's the one who needs another year.

"Worst case" I think you include Hughes and Morbeck. If the top '93s are gone we will still have some OA's. lol.

Re: Looking to Next Year
I'll take a stab at this:
First, the rumour at the rink last night was Pittsburgh would send Teddy Blueger to the Gens. If so, he's a lock in the top 6. I think we will see one of Lessio or Biggs back...I think it will be Lessio..
If so, I think we look like this:
Lessio, Cassels, Blueger
Latour , MDC, Import or Trade
Lloyd, Hughes, Dundas
Wallace, Manchurek, Smith
McDade and Harding

Re: Looking to Next Year
True Biggs Morbeck Lessio Hughes could all be likely to come back.
However what I said was worst case and Hughes and Morbeck could easily go to school while the other two make the AHL.
Best case is of course not realistic but how nice would it be.

Re: Looking to Next Year
I hope Morbeck and Lloyd are not back next year. We have got to stop picking up other teams'
throw aways and trying to retread them. I would prefer to see some 97s and 96s taking those spots and develop them. Same for Hughes. I would not be surprised to see Lessio back for maturing and Laughton, but as stated above, that's highly unlikely, yet possible. We could see Biggs back if he flounders with the Marlies. He would develop more here than getting lost in the E.C.H.L.. They would all make great trade bait next January. I think the Gens need to 'go big or go home' next year. Bite the bullet and go with a young squad which will get even younger at the trade deadline. This is the time to do a complete rebuild, not tinker with a retooling. Gennies fans will have to suffer some pain before gain!

Re: Looking to Next Year
I think it should be a total rebuild to get the team Jeff Twohey & DJ Smith want, this was still the old regime team, this means trading vet's for talented youth.(this is my opinion, lets see what the off season brings))
on a sided note 2 scouts that were standing in my section were talking among them selfs between the 1st & 2nd and I over heard them say that Lessio would of been traded if it wasn't for injury because he wasn't DJ type of player.

Re: Looking to Next Year
Interesting looking at the year end tweets of some of the players.
Some specifically identify this year, and others seem to be saying goodbye for ever -- Lessio's tweet definitely sounds (intentionally or not) that he has no plans to be here next year.

It's not up to Lessio(I think he will be traded if sent back),Biggs,Jenner as they are oa's next season and it's up to there NHL team's where to place them, now Laughton either he makes the NHL or has to be sent back to the O.

Re: Looking to Next Year
biggs , lessio sullentrop will all be back in the ohl , cuz they arent good enough to play pro , of they were we wouldnt be sitting here out of the playoffs in 4 straight .
i'm not convinced Laughton wont be back for another year , he lacks discipline , still needs to mature here before the bigs !!!!
jenner is the only one who clearly wont be back !
so lets just wait and see and stop overrating our players like the leafs do every year
it seem lie an epidemic around here !

Re: Looking to Next Year
the good is this ............altshuler can really play , he will be a solid if not game changer the next 2 years
........brown and carlisle , really stepped up during this otherwise abysmal playoff season .
Cassels has also matured over the year , a surprise has been Latour , he should be good for 25 goals next year
.......next year our rookie coach has to improve in special teams , especially a brutal power play , that killed us this year .
finally next year i hope this team takes on a defense first approach .......it will take us a lot further .

Re: Looking to Next Year
Lessio is focused on moving closer to his dreams, as long as a player isn't tweeting screw you guys I'm alright with them thinking they are gonna be closer to or living the dream next year.
There is a line though some players do cross it, Jensen to me comes to mind. Refusing to come back because he's to good for us.... at least that's how I took his departure. (Not saying I missed him).
