Re: Roster Coming Together
Based on the Roster posted on the OHL website for this season its interesting to see Jacob Busch, Jake Harrison, Matt Hore, Daniel Robertson and Stephen Desrocher have all seemingly made the team. While it does not show veteran Adam Lloyd, Pat Hamilton or Evan Buehler.
*Pat Hamilton is listed on the Lindsay Muskies roster as of right now.

Re: Roster Coming Together
I'm surprised to see Harrison still around while Bueler is sent back to Waterloo...I have a feeling we will be seeing Pat Hamilton up with the Gens this year at some point...versatile depth player.

Re: Roster Coming Together
Your right I apologize Lloyd is on the roster, I guess I was just hoping he was gone lol.
As for Harrison, I'm surprised in the sense that his skating, hockey IQ, hands and offensive ability just aren't there. But I'm not surprised because I noticed throughout the season DJ Smith was in love with this kid as a hockey player. He's tough as nails an throw his body around quite well. However if enforcer is what their looking for I believe Pat Hamilton could have done that roll as well as been a more effective overall player.
With that being said, I still feel guys like Hore, Harrison, Lloyd, Busch, Desrocher and Robertson are all still on the bubble. Yes they're signed but no one says they cant be sent down to tier 2 Jr.A and guys like Buehler and Hamilton may be back up.

Where's Kuronen? No imports this year or are we going to pick one up from another team?

I think Kuronen is @ the Edmonton Oilers Training camp, but I don't know why he is not on Gen's roster.

Re: Roster Coming Together
If they trade off their overagers and 94s, this is quite the youth movement come January.

Also,as an aside, that was quite the move Laughton put on McIntyre in the shoot-out last night!

Re: Roster Coming Together
Hamilton was suspended anyways, maybe that hurt his chances.
Laughton and Hamilton can't play until our home opener due to 3 game suspensions.

You won't see Laughton that early as I'm sure he will be with the Flyers for 9 games if he is ever to returns.archer_gens wrote:Hamilton was suspended anyways, maybe that hurt his chances.

Re: Roster Coming Together
I completely agree. The Flyers current forward core without Laughton looks like this..
Couturier - Giroux - Hartnell
Schenn - Lecavalier - Simmonds
Read - Talbot - Voracek
Rinaldo - Hall - McGinn
X-Rosehill
- I believe if Laughton shows well he'll end up being the 3rd line center, bumping Talbot down to the 4th. It gives Philadelphia more depth that way and Adam Hall isn't exactly a natural center (although listed as a C/RW). Also with Giroux out I believe all the Center's move up a spot thus opening a spot for Laughton down the middle.
At this point he's a 95% to get the 9 game audition, an 50/50 to stick in the NHL. As you can make arguments both for him staying and being sent down.
A side note, If Laughton is on the Generals roster when the season opens, but isn't dressing as he's still with the Flyers, do the games he misses count against his suspension. Or if he's returned does he then have to serve the suspension?

Re: Roster Coming Together
Macker 88- he would have to be actually in Oshawa to serve the suspension. The games hes in Philly will not count.
On a side note- I noticed everyone is mentioning how they can't believe certain kids have made the roster this year. Sometime we can not always judge them when they are in the first and second years. I mean im sure not many thought Sabby would turn out to the the player he was in his OA year. Infact hes with LA right now and they seem to love him out there. He even scored a goal against hiller the other night during the ducks game. IS he NHL ready? NO, but hes a lot farther then I thought he would have gone a two years ago. Sometimes I think some of these kids just need the chance to prove themselves. Not everyone is going to be a JT or a Dal Colle. Just a thought.

Re: Roster Coming Together
Totally agree with you 5for. Guys like Hughes, Smith and Lloyd played limited roles on a very deep team last year. Lets see what they can do when given a real opportunity to play. You cant just dump all of your veteran role players at the beginning of a rebuild. Our rookies fared well in exhibition but we all know that the regular shows who can and cant play at this level.

Re: Roster Coming Together
I don't know the actual rule.
However I am pretty sure that your off with that answer.
Players away at the World Juniors serve junior suspensions, so I can't see why his suspension would not be served out while away with the NHL.
Also last I looked the OHL had an eligible to return date next to him. Meaning he is elligable for the Gens 4th game.

Re: Roster Coming Together
I knew players where eligible to serve suspensions during the World Juniors that's why I was wondering if it was the same premise with players off at NHL Camps. Either way I guess will see tonight if a game comes off his suspension.
Chad Thibodeau was released by Sudbury today, He's an overage player, I was wondering if anyone thought if he'd be a good pick up for the Generals. Apparently he had a really good Pre Season and was the teams top scorer while they where in Russia. We are only carrying 2 over age players right now. I know where going young, but hey maybe he could help. An he comes with no price tag, simply a waiver claim

Re: Roster Coming Together
Curious as to why the Gens didn't put a claim in on Owen Stewart when he was released by Kitchener. At 6' 3" and 195 , he has decent size and two years left. He might still be available when London gets Zadorov and Maatta returned. They have way too many defencemen. And, we still have room for an overager, I believe but unless he is a sniper, wouldn't bother. Develop the kids. We don't need anymore Morabecks.

Re: Roster Coming Together
We couldn't take Stewart as we had more points than Kitchener last season,in order for the Gens to select anyone of waviers teams that have fewer points than the gens would of have to pass.jaycro wrote:Curious as to why the Gens didn't put a claim in on Owen Stewart when he was released by Kitchener. Re: Roster Coming Together
That's why I was wondering aloud as to why the Gens passed on him. Our defence is inexperienced and I don't know the player but he must be better than a rookie! I read somewhere that he may have had a little attitude problem. That could explain it.
