CHL BMO Top 10 Rankings
Can someone tell me how the Generals are not even an honorable mention ? I mean London actually moved up in the rankings to 6th after losing 3 straight games to Guelph, Saginaw & Soo Sault Marie. Oshawa loses to Kingston and beats Sudbury (who received an honorable mention) and they fall out of the rankings.. makes absolutely no sense what so ever. Just shows these rankings mean Jack Shit. 27-12-0-4 is a better record then Rimouski 9th, Victoria, Quebec and Sudbury all honorable mentions, and about the same record as Portland and Baie-Comeau as those two have 28 wins but one more loss.
My other complaint is that the QMJHL is far weaker then the OHL, they should arguably only have 1 maybe 2 teams ranked.
What a complete joke ! You can't even base it on the Generals weak play as of late, as they've gone 3-5-0-2 where London has only been slightly better at 4-3-0-3, Blainville-Boisbriand has gone 5-4-0-1 and their ranked 4th, Portland 5-4-0-1. I seriously wonder who the Hell makes these rankings, cuz they sure got no love for Oshawa.

Re: CHL BMO Top 10 Rankings
Its officially another crock, no logical explanation. Teams names are thrown into a Home Depot bucket, and some guy who never played hockey picks them out one by one until he has 10, and 3 honorable mentions. Absolute BS.

Re: CHL BMO Top 10 Rankings
3-5-0-2 in there last 10 games... that's how. I was actually a little shocked they managed to stay in the top 10 last week. After the blow out in Kingston on Friday it was inevitable that they would slid out. They just haven't been playing well... missing some players over that time period didn't help. When they get back to winning they'll be right back in the top 10.

Re: CHL BMO Top 10 Rankings
But London is 4-3-0-3 in the same time frame, and lost 3 straight over the weekend, one being to Saginaw who is in 7th place with 42/43 points I believe. At least Oshawa lost to a perennial playoff team in Kingston and then rebounded with a win against Sudbury, who they also have ranked. If the Generals where going to slip out of the top 10 weeks prior would have made sense, not this week. Especially if you can rank Sudbury and London, a team the Generals beat and a team that went 0-3 in a 3 game weekened.
Re: CHL BMO Top 10 Rankings
So once again London is ranked in the top 10 and Oshawa is barely an honorable mention. London Lost 3-1 Friday Night to Saginaw & 3-1 Sunday to Mississauga who are one of the leagues bottom feeders. London is 4-4-0-2 in their last 10. Oshawa wins twice against Owen Sound & Sarnia, games they should win, yes, But none the less they don't move into the top 10 and are the best team in the East.
I can guarantee the CHL/OHL purposely does this. They want people to be able to say the Memorial Cup hosts are consistently a top 10 OHL team, although despite London's fairly good record they really are not the power house people think they are. They have absolutely horrid goaltending. Stolarz is OK, but he's out 4-6 weeks with a huge gash on his thigh. Patterson, is brutal, horrible rebound control, moves laterally very poorly, is bad playing the puck and is weak up high. Currently their backup is former Oshawa Generals draft pick Justin Tugwell, who's never played higher then Jr.B hockey.
Defensively the Knights play 4 D the whole game. Austin, Zadorov, Basso & Mermis. Right now Bell is out an Welychka is playing D. Bender hardly ever sees the ice. One more injury to the D core and the Knights are in serious trouble. With that said Basso is absolutely brutal defensively, he's strictly power play specialist in my opinion. Offensively they're deep but as soon as they're down it becomes the Max Domi show. Horvat, Tierny, Anderson & Marner are great all around. Gemel Smith is a good player but looks out of place so far. McCarron is horrible, I don't no how he is a first round pick. This team has no chemistry and talent alone will probably get them past round one. But they'll lose in 5 games top in round 2.

Re: CHL BMO Top 10 Rankings
Could be iffy if Stolarz is back for london or not in time for thier game vs. the gens on monday feb 17th.....
Even if he was to be back the gens have a great record vs london so im not worried..the knights look very poor recentlly, especailly for a team hosting the mem cup.
It will truly come down to either erie or guelph from the west!!!

Stolarz could be back but not to sound like an ass or anything I don't think it matters who plays goal for them. There both mediocre at best. Stolarz benefits from his size combined with good team defense, which he's not getting for the first time in his career and its a reason London is struggling.
I took in the London vs Mississauga game this past Sunday an London's lines where,
Domi - Horvat - Tierney
Smith - R.Rupert - M.Rupert
Anderson - Marner - McCarron
Seguin - Yakimowicz - McDonald
Austin - Basso
Mermis - Zadorov
Welychka - Bender
Patterson (G)
Tugwell (Backup)
The 4th line saw 1 shift a period, Bender hardly ever touched the ice on D. Zadorov and Mermis looked really good. Welychka actually was pretty solid on D and played a decent amount. Austin never leaves the ice.
Hunter played Max Domi the last 3:26 straight after he pulled the goalie.
Personally I think if you get under Domi's skin he's useless, an he take many stupid penalties. Marner, Horvat and Tierny are their most dangerous offensively when Domi isn't going. McCarron is useless.. he doesn't play physical and he's 6'6. Smith just doesn't look like he's found his place there yet, or maybe he's struggling with decreased ice time. I liked Owen MacDonald's game, he'll probably have a much bigger role next year.
Erie and Guelph is going to be one hell of a 7 game West Final. I'll gladly drive to Guelph for a couple games.. if of course they don't fall on Generals East Final home games.

Strep throat.
As much as it seems like I'm fussing, I don't really care. I just thing it makes zero sense. It's shameful that a league like the CHL plays favorites with certain member clubs

Re: CHL BMO Top 10 Rankings
I've ranted about this before so i just wanted to mention something funny, to me at least.
The Generals go 1-2 this week, dropping a game to a last place team and a game to team with a lesser record. Yet that's good enough for an honorable mention from the CHL top 10. Their win wasn't even against a quality opponent. I know the rankings mean nothing at the end of the day, but the league should take some pride in it if they're going to post it for the world to see.

Really ? Who cares , I don't , chl rankings mean nothing to me , what I care about is finishing first in the east and having home ice advantage , in the eastern playoffs , I have a feeling because the teams are pretty close home ice advantage is going to be important

Re: CHL BMO Top 10 Rankings
Well if you don't care you don't need to reply... Just saying. The rankings are just something I've discussed before and found it funny that week after week recently the generals where left off the list completely an last weekend they drop 2 games .. 1 to Ottawa an that gets them into the rankings.
Re: CHL BMO Top 10 Rankings
Perhaps they saw your post about how unfair it was that the Gens were left off and so they decided to add them in?
