Gen's signed a flyer..
Oshawa Generals General Manager, Roger Hunt announced today that the Generals have signed 2011 7th round pick, Michael Turner.
Turner, a 7th round selection of the Generals in 2011 OHL Priority Selection has spent the previous 2 seasons attending Cushing Academy, playing for their varsity team. The 6’3” left winger had 18 goals and 25 assists for 43 points in 56 games with the Cushing Academy Penguins. Turner, a native of Oak Park, Illinois also played for Team USA during the 2011 Under-17 tournament registering 1 goal and 1 assist in 5 games.
“Michael is a power forward that will be known for his hard work. He likes to finish checks and will be an asset in our system of play. We saw in the North Bay series the value of big strong forwards” said Oshawa Generals General Manager, Roger Hunt.

Re: Gen's signed a flyer..
Really good signing for the Generals. Turner may not produce high end numbers but he does addresses a few areas of need for the Generals. Turner is a player, he's more then just a flyer. He was originally a top 50 player in his draft year but slipped down the draft because he was strongly considering the NCAA. He'll likely bounce around the lineup from the 1st to 3rd line. In my mind he's a solid 3rd line player, but he could easily play in a 2nd line role. He'll see power play and penalty kill time. Physical kid who's NHL draft eligible this season, due to his late September birthday (Sept 23.1995).
Here are some stats on Turner
2009-10 - Chicago Mission U-16 - 29-5-12-17-35
2010-11 - Chicago Mission U-16 - 31-7-8-15-36 **
2010-11 - Chicago Steel (USHL) - 16-0-0-0-4
2011-12 - Chicago Young Americans U-18 - 23-2-4-6-40
2011-12 - Muskegon Lumberjacks (USHL) - 6-0-1-1-0
2012-13 - Cushing Academy (USHS) 30-12-14-26
2013-14 - Cushing Academy (USHS) 29-6-12-18
**OHL Draft Year
Now if we could get Chase Pearson signed this forward core would really shape up to be a top on in the OHL. Granted Dal Colle Returns & Pu is serviceable as 1st rounder, as I suspect he will be.
