Re: Congrats to Cole Cassels!
According to insider @TSNBobMcKenzie there's talk of OHL reducing suspension of Cole Cassels if he make US team Quote: Vancouver Canuck prospect Cole Cassels of the Oshawa Generals, are strong contenders for spots. Cassels was recently suspended by the OHL for 10 games, which would make him ineligible to play in Team USA's first two games, but there has been talk of the OHL reducing his suspension to permit him to start the tourney, assuming he makes the team.

Thanks Steamed. I got busy at work and didn't have a chance to read both the Canadian and USA Mckenzie overviews. This is thankfully a good decision by Branch if he makes the team.

Re: Congrats to Cole Cassels!
The bigger question is why didn't they take the WJC into account when setting the original suspension.
It would have made much more sense to set the original suspension length a game or two shorter instead of looking like there are special rules for special players and reducing the suspension length for a superstar.
I don't think anyone would have questioned an 8 or 9 game suspension instead of the original 10 games, and it would have played much better.

Help me -Why would the suspension be reduced
This makes no sense - If u are going to reduce the suspension - Do it NOW
It appears - If Cole makes the U S A team - The O H L would reduce his suspension by 2 games - so he could help the U S team
BUT - If he doesn't make the U S team - he would have to do his full 10 games before playing for the GENS
To me if you are suspended - Then you cannot participate in any play involving any junior program in Canada - U S A or ?
I say reduce the suspension NOW - if it was worthy of 10 games then u don't make special deals to help the U S team

Re: Congrats to Cole Cassels!
I agree completely. It seems a little pathetic for the league. If a player did something worthy of a suspension, that player should stay suspended.

Re: Congrats to Cole Cassels!
From what I've heard, I don't no if this is even plausible, but suspension would still be 10 games, Cassels would just have to miss Team USA's first tournament game.
