Re: another trade
Didn't want to start another new post for this but we don't have to deal with Nick Ritchie anymore(OHL final ) as he was traded to SSM.

Re: another trade
I cannot believe what the Petes got for Stefano! Windsor overpaid and might be flipping Stefano to the Soo (just guessing!)? Also, if the Petes/Soo deal goes through, how little the Petes got for Ritchie! Granted, the 2nd the Petes got for Stefano in 2020 is almost useless! Start scouting pee wees!

Re: another trade
It does seem weird to see how much for stefano. Ritchie for two players seems low too. Soo and Erie have really upgraded.

Re: another trade
I see the Soo and North Bay in the finals. The Gens need another deal to compete but don't have much to offer. A lot depends on where Saginaw's Paterson ends up (Erie or the Soo)!

Re: another trade
Jaycro the Spitfires aren't flipping Stefano to the Greyhounds, at least not this season anyways.
An the Spitfires didn't exactly overpay, they got Stefano and a 2nd round pick in 2015. Which for them is important because I believe they don't have one due to the OHL sanctions brought against them. With them rebuilding a 2015 2nd is much more important then one in 2020. A fourth in '16 and 8th in '18 isn't to bad, the 2nd in 2020 means nothing wright now as the Spitfires have 5 years to recover that pick.
The Ritchie deal isn't complete as far as I know. They're are a few things holding it up at this point, couple NTC's and finalizing what smaller pieces will be part of the deal.
With the additions of Kujawinski and Moutrey the Battalion are better, but the Generals are still the better and deeper team. Moutrey and Kujawinski are both players that go invisible at times. Moutrey playoff stats to date are 21 games played, 3 assists, 18 penalty minutes and a minus 5 rating. Kujawinski's aren't much better, 11 games played, 3 goals & 1 assist, minus 9 rating.
The Soo may very well add Ritchie, but it will likely cost them a big part of their blue line in Kyle Jenkins. Bailey is a strong two-way winger, but the additions the Otters have made allow them to be the better team between themselves and Sault Ste. Marie. Otters vs Generals for the OHL Title

Re: another trade
I hope you are right macker. I understand the ramifications around the Stefano transaction but he was a 5th rounder and has not exactly been a ball of fire to enhance his rep.. I understand Salinitri won't waive his NTC or so the rumours go. Don't blame him. Why go from a Mem Cup contender to an also ran? I think the Soo might have to substitute someone else. I don't see the Erie duo as being better than the pairs the Gens and the Bay although Elie might really produce more when surrounded by Erie's elite talent. picked up But, if the Soo gets Ritchie then the Soo pair trumps the other two pair those of the Bay and Gens.

Re: another trade
I don't look at this as a did your pair trump my pair. I believe we traded based on need and put over the top. Pederson will be a valuable playoff guy. Hi energy ra ra guy you need. We needed another experienced D. Mermis as a 3 4 guy is very valuable with a championship run and 2 Mem cup appearances. We needed another top 6 guy. McCarron is arguably one of the top power forwards in the CHL. Has playoff experience and can take the grind. Do not forget the experience a good majority of the team has from last years run. Our team addressed needs to make a run. You can have all McDavids and it does not guarantee you a thing. Erie so far did not address their needs of D and goaltending. Who knows what is next? The Soo ? Don't know yet. I think we are deeper than North Bay. Do we need a backup with experience? Maybe. I am happy that Hunt did not go half ass on this like Sellwood did when JT was here. My 2 cents

Carlisle is a good puck mover who has improved over the years. Iafrate adds size and some truculence as Burkie would say but is prone to bad judgment at times. Why do you ask?

Re: another trade
I was never a big fan of Carlisle , but guys , he has really come along and is a plus 21 , half way thru the season .
I would not trade him at this point , another vet to replace one of the younger guys like Robertson , or Templeton , or Hertzberg , would be ok , however when we get Petshenig back , we will be solid on D

Didn't say he started,... said he played...thus undermining the theory he was being protected for a trade.

I don't think it will ever happen, as we have 3 oa's who do you trade Brown, Carlisle or Mermis ?

This is a decent move by the Gens to satisfy a tough situation. They didn't need to go out and get a #1 goalie -- they had that. And if they went out and got a back-up, they were risking the future with Brodeur who would not have been the least bit happy at the vote of non-confidence.
Instead, for a small price, they pick up a goalie with some OHL experience, who has no current expectation of playing in the OHL, as insurance.

Re: another trade
Rather have Brodeur in net than a Jr. B goalie...even with his experience, He was not notable in Peterborough. Not impressed!
