2011 Memorial Cup bids Empty 2011 Memorial Cup bids

Four bidding teams: Windsor Spitfires, Barrie Colts, St. Michael's Majors, Kingston Frontenacs.

I don't think Kingston has a chance of being awarded the tournament. I'd like to see it in Mississauga. It would be much easier to get tickets I hope Smile

My instinct tells me it will end up in Windsor. They have a good organization top to bottom. But I know that Melnyk will put together a good bid.

On paper Missy should have a better team next year. Given that and being the GTA and the last number of cups hosted by the West, I'm thinking Missy can pull it off with the right presentation.

Missy only has 4 1990s, Windsor has 9.

My hope is that Mississauga gets it but does the league take into consideration the fan base of the hosting team. There are very few people in the stands whenever I watch thes games

The counter-argument is that this can help generate fan interest. If the OHL can be successful in the province's major media market, it would make the whole league more high-profile and economically successful. I think it's worth the gamble.

If the event is held in Mississauga and is completely ignored, that's the end of junior hockey in the GTA I would imagine.

I should hope that such an event would not be ignored in the GTA. I'd go to all the game no matter who is playing. It's great hockey and close to home.

The Mem Cup would sell out in Missy. Missy is close to so many OHL teams that the fans of the other teams would buy the tickets.
