5-4 for the good guys. End of the second

Goals from Jenner, Laughton, Jensen, Valentine, and Lessio
Zador between the pipes tonight. Looked very shaky in the first period, but rebounded pretty well in the second with a few big saves.

I hope this isn't a sign of things to come. There's no doubt that this team can put the puck in the net...but come on...keep it out once in a while

Great game, i dont think there was more then two gens jerseys in the building however, no mascots for preseason seemed strange to me. I cant wait to see full strength hockey after nhl camps.

As Kevy said, Zador was not real sharp in the first but did settle in after a particularly good sequence while the Gens were down 2 men. This had a perfect ending as the final clearing play caught Valentine in stride just coming out of the box and he put the boys within a goal and they took over from there.
A few scraps tonight including Alcock going after Larson after he laid a dangerous looking hit on Padulo. I was quite pleased with Alcock's game tonight. He's never really caught my eye before but tonight he looked god with the puck and played the body well.
Mark Petaccio showed up in a lousy mood tonight. I hope we get to see more of this kid and more of that attitude in general.....final shots were 38-33.

Point getters tonight were............
Lessio 2G 1A
Laughton 1G 1A
Payne 1G 1A
DeHart 2A
Labardo 2A
Jensen G
Valentine G
Jenner G
Berger G
McDowell A
Alcock A
Padulo A
Zador A
That's a well-balanced attack without even having Thomas or DeHaan in the line-up.

Meaning that he played a physical game, he wasn't easy for the other team to play against.....It's meant as a compliment.

Not bad. Clearly a little rusty but the skill was evident.

thanks, I think he going to help take the load off DeHaan if he plays with the Gen's, or is the replacement for him if he dosn't.Love the moves and the way the Gen's look. Very Happy

I think he's Hopes replacement until Hope is healed up, then we can trade a defenceman for a goalie for next year at the deadline.

Well thats my hope lol.

I think quinn will need a few games to get used to the speed and strength of the OHL,but I think the gens have a good one in Quinn.I also agree with Gens Fan 112 on his view of the game.I too was impressed with Alcocks play and willingness to take on a much bigger guy to stand up for his fellow players.Lessio was awesome last night.Jenner looked better this game than previous games.Young players Payne,Laughton and Jenson all had strong games, the future looks bright with this crop.Zador started slow but played strong in the second and third.Zupanzic looked ok and had a good tilt in the third. All in all a good result and lots of positives for only being the second ex. game.

Just a short note to THANK the posters for the updates re this game.
As someone that lives in the "boonies" who doesn't get Rogers or cable and now can't listen to the games on radio these posts are very much appreciated
Sincerely

Thanks for the explanation....I have watched this kid since he was very young and am relying on the boards to get a feel for what he is doing( until the OHL starts the game feeds) You will not be disappointed in his play once he gets a feel for the league.....he is a mix of natural goal scorer that is not afraid to mix it up and play physical.....he reads the ice well and can thread the needle with his passes...he has always been a team player and is not selfish with the puck.....

Once again thanks for the observations........
