Windsor, good team, lots of speed. Glaringly showed us our weaknesses tonight. Very nice goal by Harding is all I can say positive at the moment.

ok? how so?

it was a 2-1 game till about a minute and the Gens were pressing. Yes Windsor was a bit hungrier and we were playing 3 in 3
Windsor roster is a bit deeper but I believe we could beat them on another night.

Windsor was playing 3 in 4 days. They had Friday off and were in attendance at the Gens centre.

I disagree with WSR being hungrier. They were just a better team last night.

Weaknesses-
1) Alts and his 5 hole. Every break away they are going for it. He made some great glove saves last night. He needs a way to protect the 5 hole.
2) Laughton having to make too many individual offensice plays. Windsor did a thorough job closing him down and eliminating the toe drag deke.
3) Being out hustled in our own end. We were hemmed in quite a bit last night.
4) Power play, although we have had lots of success. WSR was able to keep the Gens to the outside. I'm missing Biggs setting up office in front of the goalie. With Hunter getting tossed (on BS call, that was NOT charging) we were not covering in front of the net.
5) Jake Busch and going offside. He keeps going offside on offensive rushes. Don't get me wrong as I like this kid. This is probably a result of not knowing MDC and his moves well enough.
6) The other teams (not so much with WSR last night) are taking too many liberties with our younger and smaller guys. We need someone to step up to help these guys. It shouldn't be on Jake Busch.

Last night to me was more of what I was expecting for this season; closer games but not as many wins.

Annnd... Exhale.

Oshawa's game on Sunday night was their 9th game in 16 days. That's a LOT of hockey. They looked tired last night and they were... all of them. It's amazing that over that stretch they lost twice. You are not going to win every game this year and even with their weary legs the game was a nailbiter late in the third. Oshawa's schedule has had some BRUTAL stretches this year. Starting the 29th of Nov they play 9 games in 15 days... again. It may be a blessing in disguise near the end of the season that they've had a heavy schedule prior to xmas. I'm kind of hoping Altshuller doesn't start in the Russia game on Thursday. He needs a break. From what I've read Kenny Appleby is close to returning which will be a blessing. The last thing we need is a Laughton or Altshuller to get mono which tends to go around near the xmas break.

Sorry if my post came off as a little intense. Just trying to be thorough in my response to gensrock.

The original intent of my first post was to create some discussion. The Gen's two losses were against better teams (WSR and Erie). We need to find a way to beat the better teams come playoffs or we are out in the first round.

The Teams we are losing to are Western Conference Opponents. So they can't put us out in the first round. If we can win the division your playing a crappy bottom team. If we lose in 7 to Niagara, Ottawa, Peterborough, Belleville, then we weren't really going anywhere this year.

I agree people need to relax. They have played a lot if hockey lately and have done well. Really last night was a 2-1 loss with the empty netters. The gens have 5 losses this year. On other forums they like to bash the east but our record is solid . We won't be blowing teams away thus year but when was the last time our goaltending and goals against was top 5??. Our record against the big west is solid. A 3-2 loss in Erie . 1-1 record with Guelph , shoot out win over soo. Win in London and split with Windsor . Who thought we would be 18-5-1 right now? This team will add a couple guys in January . This weeks game in Kingston is big . Need to keep a big spread in conference with us most likely missing Laughton at juniors.

HOLY SMOKES SOME NED TO REEEEELAAAAAX!!!!!

We are still tops in the east by 10 points,.!!!

Still tied with erie in the league!!!!

1 loss this weekend and still coming away with 4 points, that's awesome an we only lost a very very close game.

Alltshullier is playing the best hockey of his life, hes keeping us in every game and its not his fault that the offence was not there last night. Again the guys where very tired, they need a break and a rest.

I hate this 3 in 3 crap but I understand t has to be done to schedule around the weekend due to the guys going to school. So its harder to play during the week, but wouldn't that be easier then playing 3 in 3.Spreading games out with days of rest in between.I don't know I am just making a suggestion.

And I cant see this team going out in the 1st round against a team like the petes, bulls or the dogs, so that theory is just ridiculoius. Our team is better then that and will be much better by playoffs.

On additions, well yeah maybe another top forward n defenceman would be great, having biggs come back would be even better but what I think we mostly need is to get our team healthy again and back to the way we were before and have appleby back so DA can have a rest every so often. The suspensions might hurt if they happen but everybody needs to breath and take a step backwards and just take a good lok an realize......

WE ARE STILL IN 1ST PLACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One other factor to think about Windsor had a short trip to the peter patch and were back to Quality Inn by probably 11pm . Our lads had a long drive up and back to Owen Sound that brought them home to the arena at 2 am and still unload the equipment then had to go home to their billets, so if they are able to fall asleep right away they probably were asleep by 3:30 that doesn't give much rest before heading back to the rink for another game . Yes I know you say hell they are young but, that travel takes it's toll on you at any age, I know I travel a lot with them to support them either by bus or in my van. These lads have given us more than anyone expected of them for this year so enjoy what your getting!!

No need to panic 4 out of 6 points is great - Yes we looked tired - you would be too

Also that 5 minute charging call was BRUTAL

Altshuller played GREAT - goalies get in a groove - and he is in 1 - that is why we are where we are

I can't believe why this thread was ever started - Reality check it was 2 -1 with less than 2 minutes to go both teams were 9 - 1- the last 10 games and they were rested and we were not - We played GREAT - I will take that effort every game - GREAT GAME GENS

I agree that Altshuller needs a break and am also hopeful that Appleby is healthy soon however, Mabley is a solid goalie and i suspect he would surprise alot of the fans with his ability.

Another vote for Mabley! I thought he looked decent back in the red and white games. I suspect his first game would be rough but would really like to see him get some action.

I started this thread to create some discussion. Not panicking, not overreacting. My thoughts were WSR revealed some weaknesses. Thats all. Do I think Alts is a great goalie? Dam right! However he does have an issue with the 5 hole at times. Did WSR press in on Laughton? Yes, he still made very strong plays. Did Jake Busch go offside 3 times last night? Sure did. I think the world of him and see lots of great goals in his future.

We are here in this disussion board I would hope because we are all very strong Generals fans. Just because the team is in first place doesnt mean that we should stop discussing issues and just sit there and go "rah rah". My two cents fwiw.

I agree with Ugens from all the way down here in Kingston. You Gens are doing well. I am so looking forward to taking my Oshawa grandkids and Kingston grandkids to the game Friday. The Fronts started 8-2 then fell into the toilet. Frday, they had 5600 people here for a loss to London 4-2 and the Fronts played well. Then they creamed Ottawa yesterday 8-0.Fellow Gens fans who have watched Hockey in Kingston... when did the fronts have 5600 people in 10 games never mind one. Got my tickets this morning and they are expecting a big crowd again. Gens fans, You have a good team that I never expected to be more than middle of the pack. Kingston has some good young horses and should be better than last year but Dougie hasn't proved to me that he knows how to build a line-up. See you Friday. Go Generals/ Frontenacs.Croc out.

Very intersted to hear more on his playing. I've only seen Mabley in the red and white games so I have a very limited view.
