OHL Trades 2014-2015 Empty OHL Trades 2014-2015

To Belleville Bulls - Brett Gustavsen
To Ottawa 67's - 4th Round Pick in 2016

Gustavsen is going into his overage season in the OHL and will provide some solid veteran leadership for the rather young Belleville Bulls. I like the deal for the Bulls, they have some OA openings an Gustavsen brings a bunch of things to the table. He can play a 3rd line, energy role, and he can play a top 6 role. He's seen his point totals increase every year in the OHL.

In 2010-2011 Gustavsen suited up for 35 games with the Pickering Panthers, scoring 5 goals & 7 assists for 12 points & 78 penalty minutes. He also saw 19 games of action with with Ottawa 67's, scoring 2 goals & 6 assists for 8 points. 2011-12 so Gustavsen become an OHL regular, suiting up for 60 games with the 67's, scoring 8 goals & 7 assists for 15 points & 75 penalty minutes. In 2012-2013 Gustavsen appeared jn 46 games with Ottawa, recording 8 goals & 27 assists for 35 points. Last season Gustavsen appeared in 64 games registering 14 goals & 27 assists for 41 points.

Look for Gustavsen to likely play on the Bulls 2nd line, get some 2nd PP time an tons of PK time. He'll probably see a slight bump in point totals, reaching the 50-55 mark.

To Plymouth Whalers - (C) Mathew Campagna
To Sudbury Wolves - Two 2nd Round Picks, One 3rd Round Pick

Campagna is a 6'0 185lbs centre who is going into his overage season in the OHL. Campagna was orginally selected in the first round, fifth overall by the Sudbury Wolves in 2010. Campagna came to the OHL as a highly touted forward after playing his Bantam season with the Minor Midget Mississauga Senators where he dominated against older competition. In his draft year he suited up for the Toronto Young Nationals, where he again dominated, scoring 48 goals & 72 assists for 120 points in 70 games. During his two seasons of minor midget play he competed in the OHL Cup twice. The first time as an underage player in 2008-2009 he scored 4 goals & 1 assist for 5 points in 5 games. The second time in 2009-2010 while playing against his own age group he had 4 goals & 8 assists for 12 points in 5 games, cemententing himself as a top 5 OHL pick.
Campagna's rookie season with Sudbury had him score 7 goals & 17 assists for 24 points in 58 games. He also appeared for Team Ontario at the U-17's, scoring 2 goals & 3 assists for 5 points in 5 games. In 2011-2012 Campagna suited up for 45 games with the Wolves scoring 8 goals & 23 assists for 31 points. In 2012-2013 Campagna saw a significat increase in point totals after being passed over in the NHL draft, he scored 24 goals & 44 assists for 68 points in 66 games. Last season in 66 games Campagna scored 15 goals & 59 assists for 74 points in 66 games.

Campagna will compete with the Carolina Hurricanes top prospects at the Traverse City rookie tournament, looking to earn an invite to main camp. Campagna is a playmaking centre who will undoubtedly centre the Whalers top line this fall.

To London Knights - (G) Michael Giugovaz
To Belleville Bulls - Conditional Draft Pick in 2016

Giugovaz, was originally selected by the Peterborough Petes in the 10th around, 184th Overall in 2011 out of the Toronto Red Wings Minor Midget Program.
In 2011-2012, His first season of Junior eligibility Giugovaz suited up for the Georgetown Raiders of the OPJAHL, appearing in 27 games, recording a 2.12GAA and a .919 save percentage. In 2012-2013 Giugovaz was able to claim the Peterborough Petes backup job, he appeared in 32 games recording a 3.81GAA & a .896 save %. Giugovaz, has seen his numbers increase in each of his OHL seasons, he'll head to London and battle rookies Tyler Parsons & Emmanuel Vella for the backup job. The edge Giugovaz has is his OHL experience. Jake Patterson is expected to return as OA an be the Knights starter, however if he does not or is moved a Giugovaz/Parsons tandem isn't out of the question.. Although unlikely.

Some GMs in this league have b...s. Some do not. You decide, but you do need the picks which the Gens haven't had and will not have in the next two years unless they move some overagers and last year players in Jan. 2015. Appleby, if he has a great year, should bring a bundle from London or the Petes. We shall see!

Breaking: The Attack have traded Victor Mete to the London Knights in exchange for 3x2nd's (17,18,19), 2x3rd's (15,16) and a Cond 6th in 17.

In my personal opinion OHL should not allow draft picks that far ahead.

Condition of the pick is... If Mete ends up being selected in the first or second round in the NHL draft, the 6th around pick becomes a third round pick.

With this trade the London Knight have no second round picks for the next five years. However Mete is an incredible talent an will in all likelyhood be a top 20 NHL pick in his draft year. London's back end is going to very good over the next 2/3 seasons

To Kingston - (D) Shawn Tessier
To North Bay - 9th Round Pick in 2015

Shawn Tessier is a 5'11, 190lbs, right shot defenseman from Scarborough Ontario. He was originally selected by the Battalion in the 2012, in the 12th round, 237th overall.
He played his minor midget hockey with the Markham Majors AAA program, where he had 1 goal & 2 assists for 3 points in 31 games. In his first season of junior eligibility he started with the Markham Majors Midget AAA team appearing in 25 games, scoring 4 goals & 5 assists for 9 points. He finished the year with the Whitby Fury of the OJAHL appearing in 12 games, recording 8 penalty minutes. Last season he was a late cut of the Battalion, and was sent to their affiliate the North Bay Trappers, appearing in 41 games, scoring 1 goal & 19 assists for 20 points. Tessier also appeared in 7 games with the Battalion when injuries hampered their D-Core.

Tessier is of OHL quality, just could not crack a deep battalion d-core. Should be a in an out guy with the Frontenacs D-core this season. Provides some insurance as the Fronts currently only had 6 d-men listed on their roster for this season.
