How do we compare to the last time we finished last
Well 5 years ago - 2004 - 2005 - we finished - 15-48-3-2 - 48 pts - .257 winning % - last
Well we are in the same position now with 19 pts - 44 games to go - you need about 60 pts to make the playoffs
So that's a longshot at this point you would need to win about 20 out of 44 games
That was the year we landed Tavares - hopefully we get another top player
The only way to get out of this mess is to build from the draft
Not sure who we can move to help speed up this process in the draft
It will be interesting come trade deadline
We do have some pieces that might fetch the future - Zador - DeHart - Dehann - Brown - Berger - (Berger - Brown- Dehart ) all Overagers next yr and may not return
I am not saying we should move any of them BUT in order to improve if the right deal comes along
You must look at it - Just think how bad we would be if we didn't make the J T & DelZotto trade

How can you say we are a longshot to make the playoffs when we're one point back of a playoff spot with games in hand on the teams in eight and ninth? In terms of winning percentage, the Gens trail by .004. Also, while this might be ridiculous, the Gens are 7 points back of the division lead. The toughest part of the schedule is behind them. They've had trouble putting the biscuit in the basket but this team will make the playoffs, seeding could be anywhere between two and eight depending on how fast they can make the jump from playing well and losing close games to playing well and winning close games. Fortunately or unfortunately, there is no Tavares-like figure in the mix since the Gens will be picking seventh or eighth in my opinion.

The tough part of being at the short end of this stick is that we can't afford to go on another long winded losing streak! Another patented Dipper 10 game swoon and it will be all she wrote! Not making the playoffs has a very detrimental effect on the psyche of the players. Teams can learn how to lose! Leadership is needed to teach these players how to win and develop! Enough of this skating around at 200 mph and randomly firing the puck in the hopes that enough will go in to win! Let's cut the excuses while we're at it too!

Games in hand don't mean much unless you WIN
We can't score and we shoot from the perimiter -
It may appear that at this point we are close to a playoff spot
But when you start playing 4 pointer every night in your own
division - You better find a way to win
It drives me NUTS - when we are on the PP and we are so slow
moving the puck and not taking the shot before the other team
moves into position - it's like our guys are looking for a perfeect
play every time

6-3? I thought that Ottawa was retooling this year with us? Has the coach lost the dressing room?

Ottawa is always a tough building to play in no matter what year it is. They've won 6 of their past 7 at home and the loss was a shootout loss. They're 7-1-1-1 in their last ten overall after a slow start. They aren't that good to continue that pace but they aren't rebuilding.
Ottawa 67's
89's - 4
90's - 5
91's - 6
92's - 5
93's - 3
Oshawa Generals
89's - 2
90's - 3
91's - 9
92's - 6
93's - 5
The average age of a 67's player is 18 while the Gens is 17. They aren't loaded with 19 year olds like some of the contenders in the West nor are they young which is something that if you read their message board around trade deadline time, many fans indicate is why they always finish in the middle of the pack lately - they don't follow the boom/bust cycle that other teams do. I like that personally but they are never truly rebuilding. The Gens have 9 91's and some promising younger players like Thomas and Jenner. It's just not realistic to think that a team with an average age of 17 will be contenders in a league with 19 and 20 year olds. The future is bright though.

Gens
It appears we only have 4 - 93's - that is the roster limit - we seldom see all 4 on the ice at the same time
