Gens make a Trade
According to a source I have (well my only source) the Gens have acquired Jean Paul Lobardo from the Guelph Storm. Not sure what we gave up, but it might be a fourth round pick I was told. He might be in the lineup tonight, more likely on Sunday.

Re: Gens make a Trade
Another young guy with potential. I like the idea of bringing in some young guys who may push some of the under achieving forwards who are taking up space on this club.
Good move Dips! Don't stop now.. Keep looking. We could use about 4 more. Too bad we did not get Prince from Kitchener. He could have been another good pickup.

I guess you know how much ice time he has been given in Guelph.
I prefer to look on it as a chance for a kid to have a fresh start and possibly be a useful player.
There are guys out there who are under-utilized in their current situations or just need a change of scenery. If you never take a chance on any of these guys you will not get any better.
If they gave up a 4th or lower for a guy who might contribute that is a good thing.

Re: Gens make a Trade
As I just said on The Noof, I don't think it could hurt to add another younger (92/93) for the the right price. Hate to give up anything lower than a 5th, although a 4th would be okay seeing as how Labardo was a 2nd. Could be Hayes replacement with more scoring potential next year! Also, I noticed Steve Spott mentioned he had been in talks/negotiations with a couple of teams regarding Shane Prince before he was shipped to Ottawa. I wonder if we were one of those teams? I would have given a 3rd for him but I think it was a "closer to home " thing and Ottawa fit the bill better. Wouldn't mind moving a couple of third year players in the next three days ,however!

Re: Gens make a Trade
Maybe, if the Labardo deals comes to fruition, it was the back-up plan for the potential Prince deal that didn't pan out?

Jaycro, from what I understand Oshawa and Guelph have been looking to do this deal all year.

Yes, I knew that and posted it earlier on The Noof but now the "big fish" jumped out of the pan, it moved it from the back burner to the front.

Guelph player
I like the trade - everyone in Guelph say he never got a real chance - great stats in Markham - he will get a chance here
Almost like when we gave up on Shugg - + Taylor Carnovale who might just go to the Memorial Cup
Our scouts have wanted this player for months

Re: Gens make a Trade
The trade went like this.....
As per OHL site..
To Oshawa is Labardo and Wsr 6th rnd '10
To Guelph is Bel 4th Rnd '10 and Ply 4th Rnd '11
for what it is worth, the interesting thing here, is the OHL site has it recorded that the trade happened yesterday. They have other trades listed that happened today (the Petro one). I wonder why nothing was said about it today if it was official yesterday.
