Gens at 67's Oct 24th
Ottawa seems to be playing well so far this season, I guess we will be in for another tough game. But if we win, we can reclaim 1st in our division with a game in hand. Let's go boys, 2 IN A ROW! GO GENNIES!!!!

Re: Gens at 67's Oct 24th
It's a tough stretch of the schedule. Eight out of nine from the start of October against teams above .500: Ottawa, Niagara, Saginaw, London ... some real tough teams. So far, they're 4-3-1 over that stretch. Whether they beat Ottawa or not, I'd be happy with that. .500 hockey with this tough a schedule is pretty good but if they can get the win in Ottawa, even better.
They follow this with a stretch of twelve of thirteen against teams that are currently at or below .500 taking us to the end of November. If you look at those matchups that begin with their game in Peterborough on Thursday night, there's no reason why they shouldn't be able to pick up at least 18 of the possible 26 points with such an easy schedule. It's a chance to really string some wins together if they don't take the opposition lightly.
A win in Ottawa would really give them a head start on starting a winning streak if they can start that easy stretch already having won two.

Re: Gens at 67's Oct 24th
Here's to hoping we stay out of the penalty box this afternoon. I think on Friday's game...some of the calls were a bit weak. They were not calling them both ways...I have no issue if you call both teams for the same calls. But when one team is being hammered....kills the momentum of the game. Not saying the gens penealties were not deserved, but London got a way with quite a few. This will happen, but it certainly drove the momentum of the game, which I hate.
Gens have a good chance to win this afternoon. I hope the goal by Jensen , will give him some more confidence, if that kid starts scoring too , it will take a bit of the heat of Thomas. (not that Thomas is playing poorly or anything) I would like to see Lessio have a break out game....he is due for one too. Lots of chances, just short.
Lets go boys!!!!

Re: Gens at 67's Oct 24th
Hoping for a repeat of the October 1st win in Ottawa this afternoon! It just makes more sense to be 1 point up on Ottawa instead of being 3 points behind doesn't it? Throw in a little help from the Sault today as well with the Kingston Frontenacs, and it could be a great Sunday for the Gens.
When you look at the Gens road games so far, they've won 3 and have lost 2 by a goal...so they've been in them all right to the end. After today's game, the Gens won't play in Ottawa again until the final road game of the season. Go Gens!

Slow start...down two again. Gift wrapped the first one for them. I think Zador thought Valentine was passing it to him...and that put him out of position. Hoping that was just bus legs....Lets get going fellas! Two more periods.....

Re: Gens at 67's Oct 24th
Better second, just not getting the bounces our way. Just hopping over our stick...or going the opposite direction of our players.
On a positive note the second powerplay looked much better today that it has in the past. I like moving Thomas...changes the other teams defensive strategy. But lets get some traffic in front of the goalie.
Valentine is having a very rough game today.
Let's go Gens....let's have a third period to remember!!!

Re: Gens at 67's Oct 24th
The Gens did well to not give Ottawa their 1st shot on goal in the 2nd period until 15 minutes in...and through 2 periods, they haven't given the 67's a powerplay.
Time for a Kingston like comeback in the 3rd.

Re: Gens at 67's Oct 24th
3-2 67's now with still half a period to go!
Now that the Gens are back in it, I hope they don't get called for a marginal penalty that wouldn't have been called if it was still 3-0 67's.
The Gens are carrying the play! Go Gens!

Re: Gens at 67's Oct 24th
Time to use our talent in the shootout!
The Gens only gave the 67's 6 shots over the final 40 minutes and had a penalty free game in regulation...Gens definitely deserve the extra point!

Five chances in a shootout and not a single goal? I gotta feel sorry for Zador on his efforts.

That was great that the gens battled back and got the 1 point, too bad they didnt get the extra point. Except for the slow start, the gens played an excellent road game, and by far their most disiplined game of the season. Congrats to the boys, keep it up, we will get em next time

Weird sports fact: Thomas has 7 assists so far this year and they have all been against the 67's

Re: Gens at 67's Oct 24th
I said I would be happy with a loss because it would mean .500 through a tough stretch, this makes it even better.
This would mean the Gens went 4-3-2 through a stretch with tough opposition. The next 12 of 13 are against teams below .500, the school day game against Mississauga is the one other game. It's time to stockpile points.
Only problem is that Ottawa's got a pretty light schedule coming up as well, just not quite as light as ours.
Even if we don't catch Ottawa, it's important to try and create a big a gap as possible during this stretch over the middle of the pack teams like Kingston, Brampton, Sudbury and Peterborough. It will be important to stay in the top four and within striking distance of the division lead.

Agree, we have a great offensive team, it is a mystery to me why we can't score in the shootout, also having a mediocre powerplay unit. I was hoping Berger would get a chance in the shootout.
