Kingston VS Gens - Thurs Dec 2
This could be a real barn burner - depends what team shows up
As both teams are tied in points and the 67'S dominating the Fronts yesterday shocking them 7 - 1
You know that the Fronts will want to avenge that loss yesterday so we need to know it won't be easy this Thursday
This will be a tough week end - Thursday home to Kingston- off to Guelph - Friday - back home to Windsor Sunday
We are at that point in the season - to seperate the haves from the have nots

Let's go boys!!! Lets get the big win and show our divison we are a team to be reckoned with ...and we are for real!!!
And it is Teddy Bear toss night. Just want to suggest again , as last year, that we put our stuffed animals into plastic bags. The kids spit and horck on the ice during the game...who wants a teddy bear with a loogy on it???

Re: Kingston VS Gens - Thurs Dec 2
There is one word, and one word only to describe this hockey game...and I mean both teams here. SLOPPY. Not how I pictured this game turning out
The Generals were lucky to have walked out of that building tonight with 2 points. Even after throwing close to 50 shots at Grubauer. Seemed to me like every shot was aimed directly at the logo on his jersey.
The only player that moved with any sort of quickness for Oshawa tonight was Bailie. If it weren't for him coming up with some huge saves, and getting helped by a couple of posts, this could have been a very different game. Hell, it could have been completely different if a couple little things were done different by either team. I heard people all night saying this was one of the best games they have seen in years...I thought it was painful.
Why were there 2 d-men leading the rush in OT?
That concludes my little rant. Let's hope the boys can pick another 2 tomorrow night in Guelph.

Wow Kevy, we watched very different games. I thought it was highly entertaining and if it weren't for Grubauer in the Kingston net, this game would have been over in the first period. The kid played awesome, I swear the kid is made of rubber. He made some unreal saves.
Great Win Gens!! Would have been happier with a regulation win, but still happy with getting the extra point.

I watched the same game as ogf. Where Kevy was sitting I don't know because from where I was it has a very good game.
Grubauer was hit with the puck because he was always in position. He made a couple of saves with a quick reaction kicking out his right leg.
Jenner had a very strong game as did Baillie.

No birthday wishes for beats yet? Happy Birthday!
Glad the extra point went our way. Hopefully the Gens are getting Guelph at the right time...winless in their last 6 and winners of 2 of their last 10. Go Gens!

Re: Kingston VS Gens - Thurs Dec 2
With kevy 100% as I left thinking "I've never seen a team get this many shots, and yet play so poorly."
To those who think the Gens tend to play as individuals out there, this was the lightning rod. No look spinning behind the back passes arent the only way to moce the puck.
Grubby was real good when he had to be, but most goalies will stop the majority of shots he face. Slappers form the half boards.
The gens certianly showed flashes of domination, but that won't always get you a W. Good on them for winning it.
Bailie was solid.

Re: Kingston VS Gens - Thurs Dec 2
I don't think the Gens play as individuals - I do think Jensen does. Great talent but he's becoming way too predictable.
As for the Gens shooting right at Grubauer, I think that was intentional. From early in the game, he was conceding some huge rebounds. I was wondering if perhaps they were intentionally shooting hard at his pads in anticipation of a big rebound.
Thanks for the birthday wishes!

Re: Kingston VS Gens - Thurs Dec 2
I thought that was the gens best defensive effort this year!! We gave Ballie a chance to see 90% the shots last night and cleared the end better than the we have in the 5 previous games....
I thought this game was actually entertaining. I think both teams were tenative, knowing the significance of the game, and perhaps that gave the impression of sloppy. I thought Kingston really tightened their defense in the 3rd...we couldn't cross the blue line.
Good measuring stick. Work still needs to be done, but we can compete and win against good teams.
The difference of this game was Kingston's goalie...yes a lot of pucks were shot on the logo(that seems to be our mantra for the last 5 years) but some of the saves that kid made , were spectacular...not good or average that every goalie can make...absolutely stellar and robbed us of at least 4 or 5 goals last night...how that is not exciting...I don't know.
Ballie had a strong game, but the first goal looked weak. He needs to really work on the glove side and 5 hole. He is beat a lot on those shots....

Beats, 100% with you on Jensen, which is sad since I find hes a seriously good player. I just can't believe that he hasnt been corked cutting across centre ice yet.
Shooting for the rebound is a strategy, and a sound one, as well, if you have the prescence in the crease. I think the Gens did a decent, if not, ok, job of that.
Overall, the game was exciting just some parts of the game that bothered me a bit, one thing I will say is that I'm confident that they will come out stronger tonight.

Re: Kingston VS Gens - Thurs Dec 2
Speaking of sloppy de Haan had a very rough night. Dehart played consistent throughout the game. Generals should have won the game in regulation time, poor handling of puck in the last five minutes. De haan needs to tighten his game and be more mentally prepared especially with him going off to WJC. Generals would not be in too bad of shape if de Haan was to be traded.

IMO, Dehaan will be traded but near the trade deadline. Im sure someone that wants to bulk up will trade some of their future to get him. In turn we will have a stronger future. I agree Peter Puck, he is not a gamebreaker for us. He is a very good player that is not coming back next year. Just like Tavares and DelZotto, we will get future return for Dehaan.

Dehaan may or may not be traded, and if he's trade fine and if he stay great, but I hope he is asked if he wants to stay or if he want to go to a team that is looking for his services.

Re: Kingston VS Gens - Thurs Dec 2
I don't think he will get traded i think there will be minor moves nothing big as im sure he has already got some calls and im sure de haan was brought up in those calls if he wanted de haan gone he would have done so by now i believe because the coach obviously knows he wont be back next year, maybe he is keeping de haan to finish out his career with the team that he started with!! but we will wait and see i think dehart may be gone not for anything big because he isnt worth that much

DeHann may or may not be traded.
And he will only be traded if we get what the team needs. And we have all said it over a thousand times....A real #1 Goalie. I as a fan, don't want Dips looking for anything but a goalie. (I am sure he is fully aware of the weak netminding compared to the top teams)
We all know, realistically, this team is not winning the memorial cup this year. Mississauga will be too much for us to beat.

You are missing my point. No one (coach) wants Dehaan gone, he is a great player. But when the trade deadline approaches teams either buy or sell or do nothing. I bet he would be near the top of the list of players for the buyers who want to solidify their defence for hope of a long playoff run. I think it would be a smart move to trade him for future assets because, like you noted, he will be gone after this season anyway. We have a good team and while it's nice to have Calvin on the team, we can win without him. And as for Dehart, I say he stays. 25gp , 14pts, +15 is worth something to us as a d'man not to mention his experience that he brings to a young defence. But thats just my opinion, GO GENNIES!!!

And just whom would you package together with De Haan to acquire one of the league's 10 best goaltenders? How many draft picks?
For a team to part with their star keeper, it would take De Haan, another roster player, probably second-line calibre and guaranteed to be returning next year, as well as two 2nd round picks or maybe a 2nd and a 3rd.
Are you willing to make that trade? I'm not.
If De Haan was traded, it would be for a younger defenceman or draft picks or a combination of both. The only way you could turn De Haan into a goalie is to use what you get for him and then package those picks in addition to a couple of current roster players and even then, it would be tough to pull off. Goalies don't grow on trees.
The last time this board was clamouring for a goalie, we sold the farm for Neuvirth. Look how that turned out. They might as well have gone for it with the goalies they had. Trading for a goalie is simply too high-risk.
