Stats against Niagara
Here are the Gens Stats against Niagara since Niagara joined the league in the 2007/2008 year (both regular season and playoffs)
This year a 4-2 win at home and a 6-5 lose in Niagara
Gens at home 6 wins 1 lose outscoring Niagara 34-21
Gens in Niagara 3 wins 4 loses scoring tied 26-26
Overall Gens 9 wins 5 loses outscoring Niagara 60-47
Reg Season 5 wins 3 loses outscoring Niagara 33-26
Playoffs 4 wins 2 loses outscoring Niagara 27-21
Hard to believe or understand how little Regular Season they have played considering they are in the same conference

Re: Stats against Niagara
You can throw all these stats out the window - means Zelch - Zero
Both teams have new players, and each shift and each game and only
this series stats matter
It will come down to special teams - Power Play - Penalty kill - Goaltending
Don't believe that look at the Kingston series

Re: Stats against Niagara
Gens Camper. I agree what happened in the past doesn't really matter. Heck, the Gens win this year was against Niagara's back up. I just thought it was interesting.
By the way, they should stop with the PP stats...that is the past, this is a new game, heck, stop doing stats altogether, they don't mean anything....they are from the past.
As per the Kingston series....You can thank MONO, cause if Kingston had their regular goalie it would have been a different series.
The Gens better be ready for this series, scoring isn't going to be as easy against a OHL goaltender...Mr. Canada at that.
Go Gens Go!!

2 things I'll point out first if the Gens had a healthy Niewath(sp) we would of got past the Bulls and would of been in the Mem Cup in Kitchener injuries and momo it's part of OHL playoffs tis' the season..
and the second point Mr. Canada didn't win the Gold
Go Gens Go!!

Re: Stats against Niagara
Steamed...1st .. you can't say the Gens would have got paste the Bulls...no one will ever know....and Canada won Silver ... they might have won Gold if the team didn't quit...it wasn't the goalie. Thanks for replying though, all adds to the discussion.
I promise I won't put out anymore stats, it is pretty obvious that most of the poster on this board don't understand them.
All chime in and cut me up now.........GO

Re: Stats against Niagara
You are right instead of 10 - 1 - we would have won 3 - 1 BUT still would have won the series instead of 5 games maybe 6 - who knows
The bottom line was - when your top players show up, you have a better chance of winning when they don't like Kingston you GOLF

Yeah, lotsa "ifs," there always is! If a frog had wings he wouldn't bump his ass hopping!
I love the stats, TipcoSr, Keep them coming.
Here's another stat. When you start a thread with an opinion or stat on this board, it will be ridiculed, belittled or otherwise opposed 100% of the time............

Re: Stats against Niagara
Thanks Gens Fan 112. I enjoy the stats as well. Your stat regarding threads is an unfortunate stat. There seems to be alot of negativity in Oshawa. Oh well, Here's to the stats and the Gens!!

Re: Stats against Niagara
Not really negative but with players changing in junior hockey so fast
The last time we played Niagara in the playoffs we had Tavares , Del Zotto
etc - so comparing that team's stats to this team - not really negative
What is a reality is we will face a top goaltender

Re: Stats against Niagara
Yes, Visentin is very good, but don't sell Oshawa short in the Goaltending department. Visentin hasn't been to the OHL Finals yet, Goaltending is a near draw in this series.

Re: Stats against Niagara
The stats were meaningless.
The playoffs is when the value ans skills of coaches surfaces (or doesn't).
Gens were far outclassed behind the bench in all departments.
Why a change is not made is way beyond me.

gensman, you're bringing this up on every thread as you did last year. Did Di Piero run over your puppy or something?

Re: Stats against Niagara
The playoffs are the REAL season. The rest is stats padding fluff.
He sounds like he's your guy tho.
Did he buy you a puppy?
I can't wait until next years excuses!

Re: Stats against Niagara
You seem to think that a different coach would have taken last year's Generals to the OHL Finals. You're delusional.

Hockeybeats, since you are never wrong, perhaps you could forward the winning numbers for Friday's Lotto. Putting people down is an art form with you.

Re: Stats against Niagara
The only two people that I've thrown out insult words to are gensman and the guy who was obsessed with firing Dave Branch and thought there was some conspiracy that pop music across the league was mandated by Dave Branch to try and take hitting out of the game. What both of these have in common is personal vendettas with no basis in logic. Notice that I didn't direct that comment to anybody else who thinks there should be a coaching change, just the person who takes it way too far and is even hijacking threads that don't have anything to do with coaching to satisfy his vendetta - such as a stats thread and one that was created to thank the Gens for a great season. Those comments were out of line on those threads in my opinion.
I think I've agreed and disagreed with other people here in a respectful fashion and really enjoy the discussions - feel free to disagree or show me somewhere else where I threw out an insult. Nowhere did I say that I'm always right. I'll tell you one thing I was wrong about, I said that it's impossible to acquire a top-notch, experienced goaltender without selling the farm for next year. Clearly with Di Salvo, I was very wrong about that even though he is an OA and isn't back next year. I was very happy to be wrong about that.
