Who would you move to get help on Defense Empty Who would you move to get help on Defense

It appears to me we need a top 4 defense - a puck mover and Q back on the PP - does 1 exist and how high of a price do you

pay ??

We have been spoiled in the last 5 yrs or so in De Haan and Del Zotto to move the puck up and out and our PP Q back

Some say it's too early - NOT - we have played 8 games and won 3 vs 2 of the bottom feeders - Kingston & Erie

We do have an excess of underachieving forwards - move 1 for a Def - or move an OA forward for an OA Defense

I am not sure Valentine will be back - besides we can't wait for this to implode

This week end will be the test - in Missy - home to Ottawa then improving Petes after that it's 11 games in or 1/6 of the

season - How long do you wait ??

Difficult question due to fact that Valentine MAY be back but it's looking like he won't. I'm not a fan of Maggio as an OA dman however they probably won't move him due to the fact they gave up more than they probably should have to aquire him. We don't have an OA forward to move. We techincally still have 2 OA positions available on the team with Andreoff's status still up in the air. It is still in the air correct?? I mean I haven't read anything that says he has been returned to Oshawa nor have I read anything that said Manchester has returned him. I know he was in the building on Monday but does that mean he's back to play? This team needs 2 legitimate defenceman to contend. I really don't think Nick Quinn is able to handle the larger roll that is being put on him this year. I may be jumping to conclusion with regards to Nick but he just hasn't stood out as much as I thought he would this year. This team needs to solidify the backend which in turn will give the forwards more confidence. Hopefully Andreoff will be back as the team misses his presence in the face-off circle.

It would be hard sell BUT Andreoff might be your only player to move when he

returns - we are now at the point we must trade players of worth not draft

choices , as I believe we have traded away most of our future already.

I really hate saying it but for the right player, Laughton. Clearly not for an OA. Who else do we have of value that can be traded? I don't think teams want our depth players. Pick up an OA defencemen on the cheap if possible at the deadline from a rebuildning team as well. The way our defence has been we really need a 1 2 punch back there.

I am not sure we can wait till the deadline - Laughton has too much upside

I remember the last 16 yr old we gave up on Shugg - that was not a good move

Maybe - Thomas back to London - 4 draft picks and 2 defensemen

it depends on if this is the year or next. If this is deemed the year and that defencemen will vault us to championship contention than you bite the bullet on a Laughton and go for it. However with the progrssionof players like Jenner and Lessio and Laughton and the age of our young sensational Goalie I think you hold pat maybe trade a good draft pick for one to put us over the top next year. I think its clear unless a miracle transformation occurs this season will be another mid round playoff seeding and a possible second round exit. Good young goalie and a peaking crop of forwards hopefully all coming back next year we will see although I have to say this year maybe the go for it year as we may have lost Andreoff, we nearly lost Jensen and you have to figure he will be gone next year. Thomas will be gone. With Jenners great all round game and another year to grow he may be lost to the Ahl. We seem to have lost Biggs although I did like the gamble. Looks like just Lessio, Laughton and Lombardo. So maybe you do roll the dice with draft picks if there is a move to be made to help shore up the defence. Even if Valentine comes back I would trade a high pick for a good defencemen because the pick if you perform will be a low one anyways. Than just stink for a couple years and rebuild again, lol

I'd move Thomas. Let's face it probably his last season, and he's been struggling so far since his return. He would probably get a decent return.

Maybe it would be best for both parties- Gens get needed help and perhaps he goes to a team that will help to pull him out of his slump.

Lets trade away 100 points Very Happy

The only way i trade away thomas is if I trade Jensen as well, I think Lessio and Jenner will be back next year, but if ur trading thomas u might as well just start to build for next year I think.

I thought 2009 was a rebuild for last year. And last year was a rebuild for this year. Now were rebuilding for next year. Lets trade back for Tavaras and go for it!

Technically this is not the year to rebuild, Oshawa has the forward potential to make a strong push for the cup. As stated earlier, and as I hate to say to, but I would add Laughton to the recipe to strengthen our defence. Our defence is extremely weak and thank god for our young gun goaltender or our win loss record would be more dismal. If Valentine does not return we need at least 2 defense, both that can move the puck. Oshawa is deep in forwards.
In my opinion Cole Cassels provides the opening to move Laughton. This kid is a gem and is a carbon copy of his dad Andrew. He is a tremendous play maker and is extremely smart with and without the puck. Secondly, Cole is strong in faceoffs which is credical at parts in the game. I hope to see him get more ice time.
I would not trade Andreoff because his presence on the team has picked it up a notch. It was very evident in last nights game against Ottawa.

If laughten could bring us a top vet D man I would trade him , cassels will replace laughton , this year is our best shot , we will lose more next year , the rebuild will start again next year .

You do not trade either one - I am tired of the BOOM and BUST

I like the London theory compete every year

Why not Oshawa had a record of over 25 yrs of over .500 record

and championships were there

I think you are referring to the Gen's run of 25yrs in a row of playoff appearances, the Gen's had a nice 16yr run of 500 seasons in a row ( late 70's to early 90's ) But I do agree, if teams like London are doing it why can't we?
