Re: Twitter rumour of trade today
Cameron Brace would be a great pick up for the Gens. In 2011-2012 he put up 29 goals & 27 assists for 56 points. An he was solid defensively with a plus 19. In 2012-2013 he saw his point totals increase with 35 goals and 39 assists for 74 points in 66 games. Again he was a solid plus 32. This season through 13 games he has 4 goals and 6 assists for 10 points.
He's a proven goal scorer, who doesn't shy away from the rough stuff despite being a bit smaller in stature. He's attended NHL camp with the Pittsburgh Penguins, has a boat load of OHL experience, OHL playoff experience and Memorial Cup experience. He'll likely be a 30 an 30 guy if he's moved to a top team. I'd love to see Brace in Oshawa.
The price tag is what I'm curious about, as he is a solid all around player an point producer. You have to imagine his price tag would be a younger player (McDade, Wallace, Hore or Busch a top 100 pick probably a 3rd or 4th in 2014 and a late round pick in 2015, maybe a 9th or 10th)

Re: Twitter rumour of trade today
Might be a while before you see Cameron Brace in the Schwa as he was suspended for eight games today. That aside, another site strongly suggests he is headed to Bellevegas. There are a lot of excellent trade proposals above which would mean going 'all in'. To do that you have give up something equally valuable. Not sure the Gens have those commodities to move? Love the concepts but I have to believe there's a lot of 'California Deamin' going on.

Re: Twitter rumour of trade today
A good hockey player but not at that price for an overager for the Gennies. The Gens are playing extremely well right now but I don't think this will continue. They don't have the depth to seriously challenge this year, even with Brace. They would still need to add a couple of defencemen and they don't have the resources to obtain them without exhausting their 5 year future. I still think the Gens should move their valuables ( Laughton, Suellentrop, Altshuller etc) come January for bundles of 2nds and younger quality payers and build for the 2014-2015 season.

Re: Twitter rumour of trade today
So Owen Sound in their last two transactions rid themselves of an overager and acquire a former 1st round draft choice, now in his 2nd year for a 3rd? That's not bad trading.

Re: Twitter rumour of trade today
I have to disagree withjaycro , we are in first place playing well as a team with very good goaltending , brace would have been a great pick up as he would have filled in for Laughton while he is away at Xmas ,
I don't think this team you sell the farm for future build , we've been doing that since 1997 , getting us nowhere , giving up a 2 rd pick , big deal , we have few if any 2 Nd rounders on the team now , 3rd 4th or 1st round picks comprise this team , you never know what nhl teams are going to do , often raping the junior team of their young guns
If you have a formula that is working in any given year , like this year , with excellent coaching and team play , you tweek, the team , best you can , fill some holes and go for it .
I'm thinking one approach might also be to not draft the very elite players any longer
they won't play 3 or 4 years with your team , the pros will grab them before you get to build that winner , see how London does it year in and year out .
NHL teams are not interested in the likes of Rupert , domi etc , but they make great juniors
Sell the farm ,for 2nd 3rd and 4 the round picks ? For what ? I don't think so !
The gens are as strong as any team in the league , they're not sellers !

Regarding the bulls and brace , I don't get it , the bulls are going nowhere this year , dumb move by the bulls and sad move for brace in his last year !
I like our coach a lot , the jury is still out on our gm as far as I'm concerned !

Re: Twitter rumour of trade today
I agree and respectfully disagree with Jaycro as well. This team has shed itself of the egos of previous years. They finally have a true dominant number 1 goalie and team defense we haven't seen in years. The key difference is on paper you would think this team isn't as strong as previous years teams but significant wins over London, Guelph and soo prove otherwise. Even comeback win over niagara last week when your goalie hasn't had best night prove this tennis different. Haven't seen you out this year Jaycro? The croc will be in for game Saturday vs Kingston .

Re: Twitter rumour of trade today
I just don't think Twohey has the balls or trading pieces to obtain the necessary pieces to complete this year's puzzle. Never made the big moves to build a Mem Cup team. He lost out on Hargraves (sp), now Brace. Never been a mover or shaker like DeGray and "Trader George". As I said above, really like the composition of this team and their style of play. This is a fun team to watch...great system play. I just think you will see them tailoff in the next two months. Hope I'm wrong...we'll see!

Re: Twitter rumour of trade today
As far as the Bulls move, I simply do not understand it at all. Their clearly rebuilding, yet they trade a 2nd round pick next season as well as a 4th for a guy who's 100% gone next season ! An he's suspended for the next 10 games. In 10 games the Bulls could be completely out of things. To me paying such a steep price for an overage player at this point in the season for a 9th place team is completely pointless.
As far as Twohey, I have never been a fan of his. I can agree that at this point an time a deal is not necessarily, but with that being said when a player like Brett Hargrave comes around an it makes sense to make a deal you gotta do it. If a 2nd an a 4th was the price for Brace good on him for not making that deal. The thing with Hargrave is, he's a 17 year old, with tremendous upside, who will be around to grow with the young Generals team. To me Hargrave was a perfect fit the Generals.
I've seen numerous dependable veteran defensemen go through waivers this season. The Generals have been dressing less then 6 D-Men on some nights. Or dressing a 16 year old in Robertson who plays about 4 shifts a game. Your telling me taking a flyer on a guy like Mike Diapolo or Owen Stewart or John Bowen wouldn't have been an upgrade over a kid playing 4 shifts a game or over Desrocher who was a healthy scratch the first what 10 games an only got in due to injuries (granted I think he's played pretty decent). I'm not saying blow up the roster, or venture of any plan he has, but sometimes moves need to be made out of necessity.
Personally I think the Generals need to find a top 6 forward for when Laughton is away at the World Juniors, especially if there still at the top of the East. Also they need to add some depth on defense, I'm satisfied with the current D, but I know come playoffs its a totally different game, an having some grizzled tough veteran players on the blue line will pay dividends.
Twohey, could have made some moves last year an didn't.. just think if he had moved Jenner or Lessio or Petgrave or Schemitsch. Are lineup would be even stronger an deeper. An if he had the mindset, that the team could go deep, why did he add Dundas, Karlsson & McGuire, guys who frankly where useless.. maybe that's harsh, not useless but did not bring anything to the table that they already didn't have. Dundas just took stupid penalties, Karlsson was a healthy every game, and McGuire played 3 shifts a game if he even dressed.

Re: Twitter rumour of trade today
I respect that your not a fan of Twohey and that's fine, but a month don't make a season because the lack of trades, you said Twohey could of made some trades last season, I ask why would he,he we had a good team and had chance of going far in the playoffs we just met a better team in Barrie and that's OHL hockey.
Karlsson was only added this year draft. You don't know what goes behind trade talks, I think you should make your judgment at least after the trading deadline it's easy to say now he should of traded (Jenner or Lessio or Petgrave or Schemitsch). Twohey has a pretty good record of drafting players.
In Twohey we trust

Not sure about some of these weird ideas
This team has GREAT chemistry right now and it's not a time to mess with it - A team with GREAT chemistry and hard work will go farther than a team that is full of drafted players waiting to move on - Our G M is certainly the best G M we have had in years - What many of you don't realize is that our scouts are looking at other teams players constantly to see if a fit is there - it's not just talent BUT character that we want on our team.
If another team finds player X does not work for them - why do we want him - just to poison our dressing room. I want to go to the GMC to watch our team be competitive like they are right NOW - leave this group alone - they are doing a GREAT job
I am not sure why some of you want to blow up the team every November or December - We have a team of players who want to play here

Re: Twitter rumour of trade today
Gens Camper - I completely agree with you, the team does have great chemistry right now, and likely will throughout the season. They're all seemingly buying into DJ and the rest of the coaching staff's system. I also specifically said I don't wanna blow the team up at all. My view is, if we can add without subtracting, and those additions will help the club, why not do it. A veteran defenseman that has played 3 seasons in the OHL is surely better then a 16 year old 4th round draft pick who the coaches only feel comfortable having on the ice once or twice a period. An the thing is, if we pick a guy up off waivers, he comes in for 3-5 games an just isn't the right fit.. he's gone back on waivers. We lose nothing, we gain everything if he can contribute. You may say a guy is on waivers for a reason, good players just aren't let go for free. You'd be right good players don't get let go, but sometimes quality players do. It all depends on each teams roster situation. The Generals didn't even have 6 healthy D guys last weekend, why not take a flyer on a guy, even if he's only there a weekend.
Steamed - You ask why he should of made a trade when he had a good team already. Well London had good teams the past two seasons, they have still made trades, or convinced players to leave the NCAA. They picked up Anthony Stolarz from the University of Nebraska-Omaha, Dakota Mermis from the University of Denver, and Justin Sefton from the Sudbury Wolves last season. Brett Cook & Greg McKegg from the Erie Otters, and Austin Watson from the Peterborough Petes the season prior. Owen Sound picked up Andrew Fristch & Jay Gilbert in 2010-2011. Even those great Windsor teams who where also both built through the draft picked up guys, Philipp Grubauer & Stephen Johnston from Belleville, & Zack Kassian from Peterborough in 2009-2010. An in 2008-2009, Josh Unice & Ben Shutron from Kitchener, & Lane MacDermid from Owen Sound. My point being even teams that are completely stacked still want to upgrade at the deadline. Because the window to win in the OHL is so small, 9 times out of 10 its worth risking a losing season for a shot at the Memorial Cup. My issue with Twohey is, if he thought we had a chance why didn't he upgrade, we really where not far off from Barrie skill wise. An if he didn't think we had a chance, why not sell off at least Lessio.. I mean the team did everything without him last season, an you cant honestly tell me not one OHL GM didn't ask about Lucas Lessio. I'll agree with you 100% though on the fact we really cannot judge him until this trade deadline.
As for his drafting, I did take a look at his draft history, its been pretty good, but I mean take a look at Chris DiPerio's.. its just as good in the few years he was a GM. I think Oshawa's draft success is largely on their scouting staff, they do an amazing job. I mean look all the way back to 2000 with the exception of Justin Wallingford and Kevin Baille every Generals 1st round pick has also been an NHL draft pick. Laughton, Del Zotto, Tavares, Horton, Eager, were also NHL 1st round picks an Jenner went 37th in his year. An of course Dal Colle is likely to go top 10 this season.
Bottom line, in the OHL there is such a small window to be a serious contender and win, you have to do everything possible to upgrade to give your team the best chance to win. He should of made a choice last year to either plan for this season or go for it last year.

I want to be like London - Great coaching - great scouts and contend every year - trade only when both teams win
Also it does take 2 teams to trade - don't expect Belleville to trade Gaunce to us for a draft pick - he will go to London or Erie
If we make trades it will happen in about 8 weeks - remember the owners want fans in the seats to pay for the team

Although last year George Burnett made deals with Ottawa and Peterborough so you never know. I think a vet d man and another top 6 forward would be on agenda come January . Tonight is a big game at home against a very good Kingston team.
