New Hockey Landscape
With the Acquisition of all NHL games by Sportsnet. Anyone else think that this kills junior hockey on Rogers Sportsnet.
I'm really hoping TSN picks up more junior coverage I like there broadcasting better anyways.

Re: New Hockey Landscape
I'm under the impression that Rogers has the rights to the CHL. Since all games are on Rogers local channel and sportsnet.

Re: New Hockey Landscape
That's what I was told as well. I'm assuming Sportsnet will still run Friday Night Hockey. I'd really like Sportsnet to do a double hitter every Friday night. Have a QMJHL or OHL game at 7 then a WHL game at 10.
Re: New Hockey Landscape
They own the rights now, my point being why would they pay for this in the future when they can just put an nhl game on.

Re: New Hockey Landscape
I imagine they will still try to extend their contract with the CHL, Friday Night Hockey does very well, and keeping it from their competition only benefits them. Sportsnet shows NFL and College games (Football wise) I would imagine NHL and CHL hockey working similarly. Although CHL hockey will likely find themselves on Sportsnet 360 or Sportsnet 1 rather then the main network.
Just to clarify, I'm not trying to debate you on the topic I agree with where your coming from. My view is just another way things could possibly go.

Re: New Hockey Landscape
Very true. That being said they are gonna have lots of problems going forward if they want Baseball, NFL, NHL and CHL (do they also do basketball)
Sportsnet will probably have to consider reorganizing its Regional Channels. I have always thought it quite the waste of four different stations to all pretty much carry the same thing. Except for Regional games which black out the channel.
TSN does regional games fine with only 1 channel.
It will be very interesting going forward, I had never thought of them trying to keep the CHL away from TSN and Bell. I understand it in a way but I can't see it making anywhere near the money NHL games will.
