Re: Josh Brown has been released from his tryout
With Greg Zanon, Alex Petrovic, Blake Parlett, Jonathan Racine, Zack MacFadden penciled as the Rampage top 5 D. MacKenzie Weegar, Martin Lee & Andrew Blazek all ahead of Brown on the Rampage depth chart I expect Brown to be back as an OA. Just a matter of time.
Of course there is the possibility he decides to join the ECHL affiliate of the Panthers, although I find that highly unlikely as he'd benefit an develop more in the OHL

Re: Josh Brown has been released from his tryout
The Florida Panthers announced today that they have made a handful of roster moves in preparation for the start of the regular season. The team has sent F Connor Brickley, F Steven Hodges, F John McFarland, F Brett Olsen, F Logan Shaw, D Josh McFadden, D Jonathan Racine, D Shayne Taker, G Michael Houser, and G Sam Brittain to the San Antonio Rampage.
Training camp invites Joe Basaraba and Joshua Brown were both released from their pro-tryouts but will now be attending the San Antonio Rampages training camp on invites.

Andrew Blazek was just cut/reassigned to the ECHL team today. Looks like Josh is still there. Roster is now down to 25......

Re: Josh Brown has been released from his tryout
Yes but that was to accomadate the trade of Joey Crabb to the New York Rangers for Andrew Yogan and Defenseman Steven Kampfer. Kampfer has been assigned to the AHL, so lose one D add another. Kampfer is a quality American League defender an will be in their top 6.
Shane O'Brien was also signed by the Panthers an placed on waivers for the purpose of being sent to the AHL. He will also be a top pairing defender in the AHL.
Josh Brown currently does not have a contract so these moves have no barring effective on his need to be sent down due to the Panthers reaching the 50 contract max. However the writing is on the wall with the Panthers adding two more minor league defenders, Brown will be sent down. The San Antonio core is now
Kampfer - Petrovic
O'Brien - Parlett
Zanon - Racine
McFadden, Weeger & Lee are all in front of Brown.

Re: Josh Brown has been released from his tryout
It's possible but they can't send him there, it's the players choice if he's released from the AHL tryout contract. And you'd think Brown would benefit much more from captaining a top OHL squad then playing average minutes in the ECHL. His agent will likely advise him to take the OHL route, more exposure for future contract oppurtunites
Re: Josh Brown has been released from his tryout
AHL rosters have to be set tomorrow (Wednesday). So Josh Brown's status will become crystal clear.

Update
I agree Macker the OHL route would be better - more exposure and he can pick up a free agent tryout at years end
He would not be the 1 st O A to come back
Another defense sent down from Florida - Writing is on the wall hopefully we hear soon
SUNRISE, Fla. – Florida Panthers Executive Vice President and General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that D Shane O’Brien has cleared waivers and will be assigned to San Antonio (AHL).
O’Brien, 31, has played in 528 career National Hockey League games for Calgary (2013-2014), Colorado (2011-2013), Nashville (2010-11), Vancouver (2008-2010), Tampa Bay (2007-08) and Anaheim (2006-2007) scoring 13 goals with 78 assists and 911 penalty minutes. He has played in 40 post-season games, registering 5 points (2-3-5). An eight year NHL veteran, O’Brien came to Florida’s training camp on a professional try out before agreeing to terms with Florida on Oct. 6, signing a one year, two-way contract.

Re: Josh Brown has been released from his tryout
Just happened to bump into an insider today through my work contacts. He told me Josh will be on his way back. He was pretty confident in the news. We shall see but he was very positive.

Re: Josh Brown has been released from his tryout
Brown will be back for this weekends games. I've spoke with 3 or 4 guys around the OHL, and a guy I played Minor Hockey with plays for the Rampage and he gave me a little off the record info... What I can say is the team is going veteran on the backend.. which was confirmed with the O'Brien signing and the Kampfer trade.
Re: Josh Brown has been released from his tryout
Another big addition for Generals return of captain Josh Brown and will be playing Friday against Whalers
