Re: Rumor trade
Steamed, not saying this in a negative way, but where did you hear this.
All I've heard is Moutrey from Saginaw, a lot of these rumors get started on message boards and end of getting people all riled up an talking around the rink on game days.
I've heard the Moutrey rumor direct from a GM's mouth

Re: Rumor trade
Oh boy Moutrey and Callahan both big guys , that would sure solidify this team , one vet D and a power forward with another year left of junior ,
That would work for me 😀

Re: Rumor trade
Either Moutrey or Pancel would be a great addition but don't hold your breath. Rumours on other sites have the Soo interested in Pancel and the problem is that the Gennies don't have a lot of 2nds and 3rds to throw away so it would have to involve younger players, probably at least two similar to Heffernan that the Wolves picked up from the Bulls yesterday if it were Pancel. Gens' management tends to move like a glacier so you could be waiting until the trade deadline for obvious reasons debated in another thread!

Re: Rumor trade
Just glanced at the Sudbury thread on HF Boards and it concurs with what I said above. They suggest the rumour started in Oshawa. These can spread quickly, just like the supposed Paterson for Flinn deal!

Re: Rumor trade
The Paterson/Flinn deal legitimately was about to happen. Flinn played his no trade card. Paterson was packed and ready to go. It would have been Flinn, a 2nd and a 3rd (not sure the years of the picks) for Paterson.
As far as Pancel, yes the Soo are in on him, but haven't pulled the trigger yet for a couple reasons. They have a ton of quality 97's and 98's, while only Anthony Salintri can be moved from the '98 core they are evaluating further what players they may will be willing to give up in a trade. However they are also in on a couple big fish and I believe Pancel is their fall back plan at this stage.
Also on Pancel, Sudbury's northern Ontario rival, the North Bay Battalion are very much in on him. We usually see Stan Butler make one or two quite moves to improve his team at the deadline, and I believe Pancel will be the one guy he picks up. I can confirm they are in on him, as a few teams are, but my gut says he goes to North Bay.
The Generals are looking to add a top 6 forward and a defenseman.. actively. With Dal Colle and Cassels gone they get thinner up front, wouldn't shock me to see them make a deal in the coming week or so.

Re: Rumor trade
The positive in that is, now the Whalers have a gluten of defenders and once all healthy in a couple they'll be looking to deal. Especially if they continue to fall in the standings, which I'm anticipating they do without Sonny Milano and Alex Nedeljkovic.
I'd target Gianluca Curcuruto, physical, two-way defender. Reliable defensively, good offensive instincts. Former 1st round OHL pick. Just a gritty guy who would be a great fit in Oshawa. Mitch Jones would be an upgrade on our current 5/6 defenders, but not my leaps in bounds. None the less he would be my secondary target on the Plymouth backend.
A note on Plymouth, they actually believe they can still contend in the West despite being near the bottom of the standings. They missed the boat in moving guys last year at the deadline so it wouldn't surprise me if they did nothing. Although I have heard Plymouth is willing to move some guys who wouldn't think are readily available...

Re: Rumor trade
i heard plymouth is going to sell the franchise and leave the city , possibly chatham , if thats the case they are probably just going to try to make the payoffs to look good
man we should have gotten Callaghan at that price !

Re: Rumor trade
Saginaw sends Ryan Orban (left the team) to Ottawa for Troy Henley and a pick. Orban from Stittsville and Henley from New Jersey so two boys "going closer to home", so to speak.

Re: Rumor trade
Plymouth is not selling their franchise, they're looking to relocate the franchise. Chatham is where their owner wants to go, but it makes little to know sense to go there. They have no arena, no corporate sponsorship and city council is not in favour of dropping money they don't have on a new arena. In theory the area its self may make sense, but that's about the only thing that does make sense about moving to Chatham.
Further more my comment on Plymouth was not my opinion it was fact, spoke directly with a member of the organization. They feel they can compete in the West with a couple upgrades. Has nothing to do about the possible relocation of the team. Although when I was told that, this same member of the Whaler organization said there GM is open to moving 2 players that know one will be expecting to move. I wont say the names because I don't want to be thought of as a rumor starter or loose contacts for blasting private business on websites.. but folks do your homework it becomes fairly evident who the two names "could be".

Re: Rumor trade
This is not a rumour or fact I personally think F Joel Wigle Erie's OA will be a General, why you ask, let me tell you, because it will come cheaply probably a 3rd or 4th round pick.

Re: Rumor trade
I don't see Erie trading a player to the team they very well could be squaring off agains in the OHL final.
Belleville, Windsor or Saginaw seem most likely.
