Scott Sabourin Empty Scott Sabourin

Sabourin has been suspended 12 games for his head shot in the Kingston game on Friday. I am not surprised that he was suspended but I don't think it was worth that much. Look's like the league is really getting serious on the headshots and cracking down but that is good, no need for the headshots.

I've just seen the hit on the ontariohockeyleague.com. I don't disagree with the punishment.

If you want this crap out of the game, this is how to do it.

I was joking. The head shots need to go. But 12 seems a lil high

The punishment fit the crime plus Sabourin is a repeat offender which was taken into consideration.

I think 12 was a little much. Sure it wasn't right, but perhaps if a better call had of been made on the intital knee that Stokes throw at Jenner- then Sabourn wouldn't have felt the need to get him back. Stokes walks away fine from the hit/game perfrectly fine, Sabourn in suspended 12 games and I can only assume that Jenner's "lower body injury" is a result of the knee Stokes throw at him. As Gensfanfoever put it, Stokes is no angel and one day someone is going to get him and get him good. He will deserve what he gets.

The debate is always up for discussion when it comes to where Branch has it in for Oshawa....every fan has their OWN opinion on this matter (I for one am a supporter...been around to long to see what the man is capable of). The league needs to be way more consistent when handing out suspensions and penilites. The hit on JP should have easily been a 5 and a game on Sunday- not sure what Park was thinking. The gens unfortunately need to start playing a little bit more "whimp" like and stay down more when hits like that happen. It seems the more the dramatic the player on the ice, the higher the penility accessed.

Every division in hockey is laying down BIG suspensions early to stop or reduce head hits and concussions

I believe all players were educated via OHL/NHL videos so it's not just the GENS it's everywhere.

The game is changing - forever

it's sad that their only doing this now because crosby has a sore head.. sabourin gets 12 games.. i bet u anything if it was an "star" player, like thomas or someone of that level they only get 4.. the nhl does the same thing

What is sad is that it took the leagues so long to address this. Too many careers ruined (eg. Marc Savard). If 12 games is the tariff for a hit to the head then that will help to take those hits out of the game. With the medical information we now have there is no reason to not to punish these hits severely.

I am not happy about Sabourin being lost for 12 games but if the approach this season is consistent then I can accept it. Yes I know that is a big "if".

Most of us agree that there has been no respect for fellow players

So now the OHL/NHL are trying to change that and it's long over due

The Bruins have suffered key injuries - Bergeron - lost 1 yr , Nathan Horton

last few games in Stanley Cup final - Marc Savard - maybe gone for good

I have to agree, the suspension fits the crime.

The players need to think twice or pay the price.

I know emotions come into play, and he was trying to stick up for his Captain, etc, etc...but this hit was, way, way, way after the knee on Jenner......the bottome line is, our player hit the guy in a very compromising position and quite frankly could have broken his neck. Would that be better?
