From what I have read elsewhere, it's quite possible two or three of those top ten may elect to go the college/NDTP route.

Yes they all - threaten this route in order to be drafted by Windsor or London

It was a little over 2 years ago that going to Windsor was purgatory - until they totally cleaned house and brought in new top coaching and management.

HAHAHA

Windsor's coach is Bob Boughner.

You would have called for him to be fired in 2006-07 when Windsor went 18-43-0-7. Thanks for proving my point. The next year they lost in the first round of the playoffs. Windsor underwent a complete rebuild and their coaching and management was given adequate time to BUILD their success, it did not come instantly. Like De Piero, Boughner also had no prior coaching experience at this level and has been coaching since '06.

So what changes were made two years ago? None! It's called patience.

Glad u brought that up.

Boughner has tons of NHL experience - relationships - and most importantly is majority 'owner' of the Spit's. In his first year as head coach he hadn't been already the asst. coach for 2 years with Windsor.

In his '2nd year' he went (41-15) - over a 100% increase in wins and only a 200% decrease in losses. He is Windsor born and brought in a tremendous supporting cast. He may go back to back in the Mem Cup this year and be a back to back coach of the year winner. He is more than likely an NHL head coach candidate.

Dip's has none of these qualities or resume (altho you probably think he is just as worthy ) - and I'm sure that next thing you'll tell me is that he will bring in a Mem Cup winner next year just like Boughner did in his 3rd year! Rolling Eyes

But the point remains that when Windsor had a young team, his record was 18-43 and was allowed the necessary time for those players to develop. You would have called for him to be fired at that point because we supposedly don't have time to wait for junior hockey cycles. NHL playing experience does not translate into successful coaching. There are lots of great coaches that never played in the NHL and lots of terrible coaches that did.

Boughner has earned his solid coaching reputation because he was given the time to do so. I'm not saying the Gens will win the Memorial Cup next year - if you in fact read my posts, my prediction was middle of the pack next year, contender the following year. You can only predict that they will be good enough to contend, whether a team develops into a championship calibre team has so many intangibles that you can't possibly know two years ahead.

At the start of the season, I predicted that they would be fighting for a playoff spot, possibly a fringe playoff team. I was bang-on with my prediction. Like all of us, when they were suddenly in 5th in the conference in January, I thought they were better than that but at the end, they ended up right where most predicted them to be given the lack of offense that was expected.

The 'necessary time' happened to be the very next season following a dreadful rookie season. It did not take long for the cream to rise to the top (less than 12 months). Obviously BB has superior innate coaching, management, and leadership skills which are probably better than his playing skills. The fact is that serious change was needed, made, and the positive results continue to accrue.

This was season #1 of the rebuild. You can't count the 15-20 games after JT was traded as a full year.

Ok so let's say we all side with beats about DIPS

How much longer would you give our coach

Would it be x- mas next yr - all next yr -

Maybe all DIPS needs is some on ice sessions

with Peter DeBoer in about a month when Florida is out of

the playoffs to right the GENS ship

All I know is Oshawa was in a position to make the playoffs last year after the trade , and was in a position this year to make the playoffs until their 4 for 20 run ( I think that was the run, i am sure I will be corrected if not) .

My thought is This is not going to be a great week for DIPS
