A great start to the season for the Gens! Everyone ready for October 28th back in Peterborough? I knew that getting a ticket to that game would be a good decision. Very Happy

I'm glad you mentioned the Labardo penalty kill beats, that was impressive and it's a great example of the commitment we want the team to have. As others have said, the energy and enthusiasm has been nice to see, hopefully a solid work ethic will become a trademark of this year's team.

Kevy, the "A Round For A Cure" people will sure like the $0.50 for every Gens/Petes fighting major after last night!

Thought last night was the best use of the video board we've seen. Nice to have replays on goals, better graphics on promotions and advertising, player pictures on goal announcements, etc. Kudos to whoever is doing that this year...hope it continues!

113 penalty minutes in 2 games certainly creates an interesting "on pace" number over a 68 game schedule. Laughing Glad we've seen improvement from the pre-season in being able to kill off penalties...until the Petes scored their powerplay goal in the 3rd on Thursday night, the Gens had already killed off 9 penalties successfully, with many of them running together.

Through 2 periods in both games so far (80 minutes), the Gens have only allowed a total of 2 goals against which is nice to see. Should be a fantastic season...the increase in talent is obvious and the potential is pretty exciting. Don't want to get too far ahead of ourselves, but one area that the Gens haven't had the most success with in past years has been games against their own division. By Thanksgiving Monday, the Gens will have played 6 games, and they will all have been against East division opponents (Petes twice, 67's twice and Fronts twice)...with the way the Gens are playing, I think there's a great opportunity there to have a bit of a cushion on some East division teams! Very Happy

Agreed, that was one of the main pet peeves I had since the GMC opened. This lovely board and hardlty anything going on with it. I was quite impressed with the various stats, graphics, etc.

White helmets? Looks very strange.

I also found the white helmets strange looking. Never got used to it the entire game. Got home, and watched it on TV and still found the white helmets rather ugly.

The person working the video board this year is very good but another reason for this is that there seems to be a recognition that there was just too much going on the past couple of seasons. Aside from goals and penalties, there were only seven or eight announcements per period with regard to sponsors, promotions, etc. There were times last season when there were at least double that number or more. This is one thing that allowed for more replays. It also means more music so I'm happy about that too and I hope it continues.

I don't think anyone noticed the decrease in announcements because there were so many goals and penalties. Laughing
