Why am I the only 1-who is not happy about all of the trades
We have lost 5 games all year and that is not GOOD enough - Well the last 2 years many of u wanted to trade everyone and rebuild
Yes I would LOVE to see the BOYS win it all and our last trip to the Memorial Cup was as an under dog now as a semi favourite
Our 2 wins over Erie was without McDavid so until u beat them with him in the line up - does it count
It appears we have a shot at the O H L finals - 4 wins more than last year - Then hope the SOO & Erie knock each other out
The finals is a coin flip - BUT it sure is a lot to give up in these trades that I think we could have won the East with out all the trades
Next year we look forward to a rebuild like most of u wanted - me I want a team to cheer on each year
Just can't imagine how tough it will be to sell tickets to a GENS game next year -Oh WELL
I was in Montreal Dec 26 - Jan 1 then ACC for the last 6 games hoping we would land Max Domi - price must have been 2 high

On the topic of trades, I was looking at the OHL site's last two recorded trades and...Foss from Windsor only draws a 5th while Stefano gets a 2nd albeit 2020, a 4th and an 8th in addition to the two2nd trade-offs. Both have about the same league stats and are the same age. What up??

Not happy- you must be kidding. I have been watching the Generals for a very long time and have only seen one Memorial Cup win. I have watched them lose too many times. Five appearances but only one cup. Close does not count.
The Generals have gone all in for this year. I say good for them. Good teams do not win the Cup- it takes a great team now.
If you remember in 1990 the Gens made a really big addition at a very high cost. Still it brought a Memorial Cup.
I hope to be in Quebec in May cheering for the Generals.

With the Soo acquiring Bailey, Ritchie, Boland and DeAngelo, are we still happy with what we got earlier?

It's a delicate balance , the Soo may interrupt the chemistry on their team with so many additions , time will tell

All of the trades - lets hope it works out
I am not saying I don't like adding pieces BUT lets face it the FUTURE will be bleak starting Sept 2015
I remember last year Sudbury went all in and failed BIG TIME - if it works GREAT it will be worth it
The hard part will be chemistry and hoping the rest of the team doesn't forget what got them here - HARD work
I do not see us a shoe to play in Quebec - I see us as 1 of 4 teams that have a chance to go
Erie and the Soo in the west - in the East our toughest fight will be Kingston ( Bennett may be back)
In the Conference Barrie has improved and North Bay is still in the mix
Not sure why we didn't move Harding and Manchurek and Roberstson and 2022,2023 2nd and 3 rd picks to get Domi 2 then we
would really be all in

Meh, if any team will be like Sudbury from last year it will be the Soo. They pretty much picked up every shiny looking player available. The Gens on the other hand, grabbed a trio of players who play the exact type of game that DJ expects from his players. They should settle in quite nicely.
DeAngelo and Ritchie on the same team could turn into a real mess. Will be interesting to see how things play out for the Greyhounds. I'm definitely looking forward to a potential Erie vs Soo playoff series.

See this is a good point about how many teams went all in this year. I really like what Hunt did this year but am concerned about the future with all of the 2nd's traded. I think more than the greyhounds will be hurting next year. The Gennies could and most likely will have a down year next year but will be able to trade in assets to replenish the draft cupboard. I think the key is they are able to hang on to DJ Smith. Smith is able to get the most of the team.

Most of u won't even buy tickets next year
Responsible management is out the window
We have now added another 1 st line player who will pout with lack of ice time on the 3 rd line
I hope we do win it all as we will be bottom feeders again for years and be looking to draft the next Mc David
With no 2 nd rd pick for 7 yrs

Geez.. you're quite the downer.
Oshawa will rebuild for the next 2 or 3 years which is obvious with the trades that were made this week. You make is seem like we'll have zero assets next year. IF Oshawa goes on a deep run like all of us fans are expecting the value of every player returning on the roster next year automatically goes up as a result of the playoff experience. I really really hope Dal Colle returns by some miracle next year as he will be the biggest asset we would have to trade, along with Mitchell Vande Sompel. Moving just those two players would get the team enough to restock the cabinet along with at least 1 first round player from this summers draft. I for one am very very excited with the additions that have been made and I'm looking forward to a loooooong playoff run. I've had season tickets since 86-87 and I'm not going to cancel them next year because my team did everything they could to win an OHL Championship and a Memorial Cup this year. As a fan, I'm encouraged by the commitment management has made this year to winning. If we had been this aggressive in 2008 I feel we would have been in the Memorial Cup.

I second that about KHE post. How many chances fir a championship have we had since 97? I'd say only two. Last year and Tavares year when Kitchener hosted . Enjoy the ride fans. Next year will maybe dip back to a pushing for the playoffs year but you will acquire all those picks back in a couple trades.

I third it. I'd rather mortgage now when the team has a shot. Hunt had the balls to go all in. I support it and am ok with some lean years to at least take a stab at it this year. If the team doesn't win then it wasn't meant to be but at least he swung the bat.

Re: Why am I the only 1-who is not happy about all of the trades
Gens Camper, you gotta relax and enjoy the rest of the season. Its too early to be worrying about next years team. This is just the way junior hockey is. If you're a team with a real shot, you have to go all in.
The only concern for next year is DJ not returning. I'm sorry guys, but there is no way hes not gonna be getting tons of offers from AHL teams after what hes done in the OHL. Not to mention, there's this little team just down the 401 who might be looking for a new coach for their AHL team...

I agree, DJ will be getting offers after this year regardless of how it turns out. And that's great for him, just bad news for the Gens.
He seems to have great systems and gets the most out of his players. Its also good to see all the players developing, which I haven't seen in Oshawa in 15 years or so. Ive even been happy with Hertzberg the last month and Robertson part time.

Re: Why am I the only 1-who is not happy about all of the trades
The hardest problem D J has is making these lines work - GREAT on paper - put on the ice is another issue
When you have about 6 or 7 players that all feel they should be on the #
1 line then D J has to get them to put their EGOS at the door for the good
of the team - like a Team Canada just did
D J will return - he is too smart to go to a dysfunctional Leaf team

I really don't know if DJ,s coaching style would translate to the pro level. He is good has good systems. However his constant yelling from the bench would eventually go on deaf ears at the pro level and would get real old very quick.

Re: Why am I the only 1-who is not happy about all of the trades
I agree, DJ is a very intelligent hockey coach, with great systems and a passion for his team to constantly improve. However he would need change his tune a bit at the Pro level, as constantly yelling at guys when to change, where to go and how to do things, would definitely fall on deaf ears.
I love his teaching style of coaching, its ideal at the junior level, which is why he' successful at the junior level. While I still think he will adapt at the pro level and be a good pro coach, I to see where you are coming from in your viewing of DJ

Hey Gens fans: I saw the Kingston game on Friday. You will be fine once the new guys get settled. I know that chemistry is a big concern but as a former gens season ticket holder for years, I am glad that somebody had the guts there to take risks. Sure the Fronts won, but they get up for you. They were ordinary last night against Windsor. Enjoy the team. Barring injuries or suspensions you will have a good season. Yours respectfully, the addled croc. Go Gens Go!
