Hunt & DJ Smith
Well Still high on winning the Memorial Cup and will be for awhile, but tomorrow the work starts on next years team and on the 1st agenda for Roger Hunt is to get DJ under contract which this could be a difficult thing to do as I sure think DJ is on radar from not NHL teams but 2 AHL teams 1 being Toronto Marlies and the other Grand Rapids Griffins, It was a pleasure watching this team for the past 3 years watching them grow under DJ Smith, I do hope that Hunt will sign DJ asap but also will more than likely give DJ time to peruse his goal in moving up the ladder as do all hockey players. I do hope that he stays but understand if he doesn't.
P.S. well I'll make the my choice of coach to replace DJ Smith if he moves up, and no surprise here Ted Nolan

Quote from the Sun today about the above;
""We sat down after D.J. came back from an NHL interview," Tullio recalled. "I told him, 'Look, I need you and you need us. I need you to commit to us long-term. We locked him in for the next few years to the Generals and only the Generals.""
I believe he's referring to the interview last year with the Marlies. DJ is slated to be an assistant with Team Canada for the World Jrs. next year so I don't think he's going anywhere for the 2015-16 season.

For what it's worth? A poster on HF Boards says the Marlies head coaching job is down to two people, Sheldon Keefe who Dubas wants and D.J. Smith who is favoured by Hunter. Sounds a little too convenient to dream up if you ask me!

Part of me hates that Keefe is highly touted over Smith, when lets be real... DJ has the better resume. But then the other part of me is totally fine if Keefe gets hired, because it means D.J is staying

Re: Hunt & DJ Smith
Just a quick note.. Ted Nolan is likely taking the vacant Vancouver Giants head coaching job.
I believe if DJ wanted to leave, now would be the right moment. Back to back East Division titles, an Eastern Conference, OHL and Mem Cup title. It just makes sense. However I get the feeling he will be back, unless there's an overwhelming, can't pass up opportunity.

Re: Hunt & DJ Smith
DJ has committed to being an Assistant Coach with the World Junior Team. I dont think he will walk away from that commitment. I expect him back next year with the Generals but after that he likely moves on to a pro team somewhere.
