Oshawa this week talked to Smith and he denied the rumour. Could just be the politics of it all though....can't confirm he's accepted anything until MLSE announces it.

Promotion job wise for Smith. Laterally move team wise

would like to see if DJ and Hunt , can build another top team in a short while like Kelowna seems to do , we haven't had a gm/coaching them like that in a very long time

Just saw tweet that leafs and smith negotiating contract. It's on hockey buzz too. If he goes can we grab macfarland back from Kingston? I'm sure he would rather be in Oshawa than Kingston .

I agree , 3 terrific years with DJ in charge , sad for us going forward but he got us a memorial cup this year , which is as many know is about the toughest trophy to get given the nature of the transition of junior age players .

I wish DJ all the very best with the Maple Leafs , being a leaf fan , its not all bad :0 and DJ will be working with the best in Babcock !!!!

btw looks like the leafs are sure grabbing all the best young talent they can put together , they just locked up arguably the two best coaches in the ohl , in DJ ( leafs ) and Sheldon Keefe ( marlies)

From 1st t 2 worst - this Leaf team is BAD - 5 - 7 YRS before they will ever be close - 2 a playoff team

The scouts hold the most influence in respect to drafting players but hopefully DJ will convince the Leafs to take a few Gennies this year like Appleby, VanDe Sompel or Cirelli. Would be nice to see one taken. If they get a forward with number 5 overall they could grab Vande sompel at 24.
