The Gennies brass are blown away by this kids ability. If he is available that is who they are taking.

You might be best to wait
You might be best to wait on who the brass thinks will be # 1 as - Hamilton only played 4 games with Jarrod getting 3 points - yes he has size at 6 ft 1 but listed as a center
There was a lot of games the GENS scouted after Hamilton was eliminated including yesterdays semi and final - Campagna as 1 who had 12 points and Sean Monahan 13 pts - game winning
goal in the final and was the OHL Cup MVP - NOT sure how we would pass up on this guy he is 6ft 1 - 170 lbs and a L F
There is a good defenceman - Pelch rated 2nd rd - look good in a GENS uniform
The next big decision for Maidens will be where he lands in the future. The OHL will certainly come calling, but the NCAA isn’t completely out of the equation.
“I don’t want to close any doors,” Maidens revealed.
In the meantime, the goal is simple: Win a league championship, then set out to take the OHL Cup, which features teams from across Ontario and the U.S.
“All the guys have to be skating hard,” Maidens said of Hamilton’s mission. “When you work hard, the best is yet to come.”
Prep Watch, which features minor hockey players destined to become big names in major junior or the NCAA, appears every second Thursday throughout the season.

Is Maidens a centre? The Gens need another big centre a la Jenner! Oops, I missed that line above that said "he was listed..."!

Re: And the Gens 1st pick is ...
We have a lot of holes to fill.....
URGENT NEEDS
1) A number 1 centre and hopefully a number 3 will step up or come in. Labardo/ Hughes / Alcock are not the answer .. yet.
2) A number 1 left winger and some depth at left wing. This may be our weakest position. You could move them all and I would not be upset.
3) Some experienced defensemen - we have some good young ones, Dehart and Valentine will need help if DeHaan is not back.
4) A number 1 goalie - need to move 1 of the 2 we have and solidify this position.
How we are going to get all of this (of course it is impossible) but fill at least a couple of them. If not, we are going to be here in a year without playoff hockey again.
Depth Chart
FORWARDS
Centre Boone Jenner
John Padulo
J.P. Labardo

Alain Berger OA (Do not think he is coming back - AHL)
DEFENSE
Scott Valentine
Colin Sullentrop
Tony Dehart OA
Jimmy McDowell
Andrew Wilson

Calvin Dehaan (Do not think he will coming back – Islanders)
GOAL

We may need one more D.... DeHart is currently playing with Springfield (AHL) and he has no points but is a +2.
Mind you Springfield is in last place in their conference but it will be go experience for De Hart

Re: And the Gens 1st pick is ...
I agree with your urgent needs gogeneralsgo. I think Labardo can be a 2nd or 3rd line centre and it would be nice to move out all those left wingers , but, realistically ..you can't. It would hurt to lose DeHart, big time. DeHaan will not make the Islanders, especially after his injury. Besides, we need him back for the trade deadline to move him for players and picks!

Re: And the Gens 1st pick is ...
We need help - mainly putting the puck in the net
We could land Campagna and Monahan slated 2nd rd - if Pelch slides to 3rd rd that would be great but I doubt it
In a perfect world Campagna - Monahan OHL Cup - MVP
Solid def Pelch and a goalie
Berger and De haaan return - talk Biggs and Lessio and WOW
I'm excited

Re: And the Gens 1st pick is ...
I think we could get Campagna at three if Sarnia or Belleville take a defenceman. Monahan is slotted for the 2nd round but likely won't fall to London's 2nd as I don't think we have our own 2nd this year. Correct me if I'm wrong! Pelech will defitely not fall out of the 2nd round so we get one of the three. Elsewhere it says Sarnia might be looking at Ebert or a wild card pick. It all depends too, on whether the two teams picking ahead of the Gens like Campagna over Marcantuoni (sp) as the former is bigger and the latter is considered a "softer" player.

Re: And the Gens 1st pick is ...
We do have our 2nd rd pick - we gave up London's 2nd rd pick in the Niagara deal for Lessio
We have the 3rd overall - 23 rd overall then 3 - 3rd picks
Ebert is slated at # 2 - a franchise type defense - hard to pass up

Re: And the Gens 1st pick is ...
This is the list of the top ten I found on the scout.ca
and list Ebert as No. 1 and he has his eye set on the NCAA route,I would like to see the Gen's draft
Mathew Campagna,I didn't see him @ the OHL Cup but saw him play prior to that and he was a stand out.
1. Nick Ebert
2. Matia Marcantuoni
3. Mathew Campagna
4. Alexander Galchenyuk
5. Slater Koekkoek
6. Jarrod Maidens
7. Marcus McIvor
8. Brendan Gaunce
9. Scott Laughton
10. Jacob Trouba

Re: And the Gens 1st pick is ...
Thanks for clearing that up Gens Camper. I couldn't recall whether it was our 2nd or the London 2nd for Lessio. We might get a crack at Campagna as a Sarnia thread on HF says they are into Ebert or Galchenyuk. One never knows!
