Urbanic to Ottawa

John Urbanic has been traded to Ottawa for an 8th round pick in 2014.

This is a head scratcher for me. I loved the energy John had on the ice. Unless there is more to this I don't like it.

I don't get that at all. Makes NO Sense to me

how do you trade forwrd bodies , and not get one in return when youre so short as we are now , must be more to this .

Two things 1st maybe John wanted to be traded and 2nd another trade may be in the works.

We have to many forward bodies if u ask me lol. Plus yes I expect another trade in the works.

I look at it this way. Why trade a player to a division rival for a mid draft pick. I don't care if you have too many forwards this year...do we next? Why give one of them to a divison rival for a mid pick? We need a stud defencemen and a backup goalie. Package the guy in with a package for the pieces we need. We didn't need a 8th rnd pick in 2014 and I can't think of a reason to help the 67s field a team. I hope there is more coming, but I can't believe a 8th rnd 2014 pick would matter or be part of it.

Could this have anything to do with roster spots? I only say this because I believe we may have had to many players on the roster and may have had to waive someone to re add Tyler for tonights game, noticed he had been removed again from our roster, although he tweeted he is playing tonight. Could have been math only, and Ottawa needs players after all there trades.

They drafted John in the 8th round got an 8th round pick and 3 career points in 59 games. I have a feeling there is something else to this but only time will tell.

Tipco: I would say that Urbanic doesn't give you much in a package anyway. I don't think it is the pot sweetener and I don't mean any disrespect to the player or your comment as usually throw ins are picks

nerfherder .. I was just looking at it from the perspective of NOT helping the 67s fill a roster with all their trades and adding that extra player to a deal that you really want to make.

we have bodies but we dont have enough "ready bodies "for a team that supposed to challenge for first ! anyhow still waiting for a REAL trade !
